About Me

I'm a 25 y/o student from the danish minority in Germany, studying political science in Copenhagen. I'm currently travelling over land from Copenhagen to Japan.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My initial experience with "couchsurfing" was on my bicycle trip through Europe last year. My friend and I cycled from Romania to Denmark and often stayed with locals via "WarmShowers" (which is basically couchsurfing for bicyclists). We had some of our best experiences through that, because we got to know the people of a country: their hopes, dreams and struggles, their daily routines and their favourite food and drink.
Couchsurfing is not about "cheap accomodation", but about meeting people. It's a way of travelling that makes you understand different cultures on a complete different level from straight up touristing (which of course has it's own merrits).

Interests

My favourite means of travelling is long-distance cycling, which I've been doing since I was 17. I like the way you get to know the land and it's people outside of the main tourist traffic.
When travelling I like to learn. To get to know the everyday lives of ordinary people in other places. Understanding others situation makes it easier to understand the world and why things are different than they seem looking from the outside.
Since I study politics, I especially like to learn about the politics of the countries I visit. The political culture, how you participate in society and your hopes for the future.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2014/2015 I attended a folk high school in Denmark, the International People's College (IPC). It was the most eyeopening experience for me, and I would like to share it with you! (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EnjKmGyrERs)

Teach, Learn, Share

I would in turn love to share my experience at the International People's College in Denmark with you! Or inspire you to do some long distance cycling!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love cooking and camping. I can do some basic bycicle fixing. Otherwise I hope to offer up interesting conversation!

Countries I’ve Visited
