About Me

CURRENT MISSION

living bigger than myself

ABOUT ME

Hi! I think that this project is a great idea for getting to meet new people and get to experience other places. I've just graduated from Binghamton University in New York and now I'm on my way to graduate school in molecular biology. My biggest accomplishment is probably this art award that I won at 5th grade graduation. I also have this DARE certificate, but I think everyone got that so it's not too special. They're both proudly hanging in our library for all to see. I am vegetarian so I don't do the whole meat thing anymore, although it's tempting. I laugh at pretty much anything. Don't worry if you're not funny. I will still probably laugh at your jokes.

PHILOSOPHY

Be open to new things! There's so much you can learn if you are!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Hosting, Surfing, meetings and gatherings. I've met some good friends through this site.

Interests

In my spare time I like to decorate for Christmas, collect chatkeys for our bookshelves, go to themed parties, eat, cook so I can eat more, meet new people, dancing, sing songs I don't know the lyrics too, coffee, walk, explore, some light hiking, pretend to know to ice skate, crafts, learn about new things esp. science-related stuff, non-euclidean geometry, pretending to be Pocahontas in the nature preserve, dark alleyways, my dog, cuddle parties, fashion, swimming, jigsaw puzzles. It doesn't take much to make me smile.

Music, Movies, and Books

Some of my favorite bands right now are Of Monsters and Men, The Head and the Heart, Andrew Bird, Sufjan Stevens, The Submarines, Cold War Kids, Justice, Adele, Mumford and Sons, etc. I like lots of music but tend to listen to folk, dance, electronica stuff and Top 40. I really like live music too.

For movies, I really liked The Brothers Bloom, American Beauty, Mean Creek, Scary Movie 2, Lord of the Rings. I also think the cinematography for Power Rangers: Ivan Ooze was incredible.

Life of Pi, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintainence and Goosebumps. I read a lot of non-fiction normally.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've gone cliff jumping in Ithaca this summer, rode in a hot air balloon over the serengetti, saw the great migration, had momentary eye contact with a lioness a foot from our jeep, walked with elephants in Ghana, and saw this guy eat a light bulb once.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can tell you a lot about molecular genetics, dengue virus and it's vector aedes aegypti. I'm trying to get into insect collecting. I can tell you about my travel experiences. I can probably teach you how to make some yummy and not-so-yummy vegetarian food
