About Me

I'm 26, relocated to Stockton-on-Tees just over a year ago in the beautiful North East. I've been a bit quiet on CS.org recently, hoping to pick it up again. I joined couchsurfing when I lived in Brighton, where I really enjoyed hosting and met some incredible people through couchsurfing there. I'm currently on a mission to learn Spanish and go back to Central and South America after amazing trips there to Cuba and Peru, but in the mean time (while I'm poor and studying again!) I'm visiting places closer to home.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I initially joined Couchsurfing at the insistence of my then housemate, with whom I went on to share many wonderful couchsurfing experiences and meet some awesome travelling folk. I can host in Stockton, and would like to continue to meet new people and visitors to the area through the community. Without sounding shitty, I'm not happy to act as an airport stopover and will not respond if you offer me money in exchange for a night's stay - it's not in the spirit of couchsurfing and not what I'm here for :-)

Interests

I have a great interest in psychology, mental health in particular, and have studied it for the last four years. I'm currently on a graduate scheme to become a children's social worker, where I'm continuing this passion for mental wellbeing. Some other firm faves of mine are Ultimate Frisbee, road trips, cinema, pub quizzes, whiskey, swimming, diving, kayaking, and trying new cuisines.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like a bit of everything music-wise, except for electronic/dance and poppy/Top 40 music. Currently quite inclined to listen to a bit of Maccabees, Stornoway, Léon, and Electric Guest. I'm quite into action films, and have a weird appreciation for apocalyptic films and TV shows. Consistently favourite movies are probably A Beautiful Mind, Good Will Hunting, and Mad Max. Books, I read a lot, and indiscriminately so! I'm currently working my way through the Game of Thrones series in and around my studies.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One amazing thing I've done is tour Peru - so if you need any information on the place, I'm probably your gal. I'm also quite proud of publishing a research paper this one time. Other than that, my life hasn't been too eventful. I did serve Lee Mack a coffee once, but I had no idea who he was at the time.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd be happy to teach some ultimate frisbee skills, and I quite like cooking and baking but I'm not very good at it - so we could share! I'd like to language-exchange with a Spanish speaker who'd like to learn/improve their English. I'm also very interested to hear people's travel tales, particularly if you've been anywhere in South America, New Zealand, or Italy (next few places on my list).

What I Can Share with Hosts

Mildly awkward but infinitely friendly conversation, a good hearty attempt at an Italian or Mexican meal, sweet treats or a souvenir from England

Countries I’ve Visited

Cuba, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Netherlands, Peru, Poland, Spain, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

Germany, United Kingdom
