About Me

Hello, I'm a 21yo French Student, travelling with my friend Julie (22yo) to Milan and Venice. I'm studying Arts Management and we're both very keen on visual arts and drama. We've been traveling quite a lot for the past year: Julie in Europe (Lisboa, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, England) and Asia for me (China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As we travelled a lot, we got used to meeting new people from very diverse culture and we hope on extending this open-mindedness. We like (if not love) talking, and we're always up for going out and share moments with new people. Couch surfing seems to be the best way to discover a city and its people, and to have fun.

Interests

We're mainly going to Milan for the Expo and to Venice for the Biennale, as you might have gotten it, we're interested in arts may it be painting, sculpture but also architecture, cinema and last but not least drama. We play in an amateur drama company and we study political science: Arts Management for me and Public Affairs for Julie. Additionally, we love food and tasting new cultures and as classical French we're quite fond of red wine !

Music, Movies, and Books

We both listen to rock, folk and jazz music: Moriarty, the White Stripes or Ibrahim Maalouf etc. We read a lot, and very different stuff. The last thing we both adored was Haruki Murakami's 1Q84 for instance. Julie is also keen on French poetry. If we had a long and touch week, we enjoy crawling on to a chick flick but we usually go to the theatre for auteur films such as Xavier Dolan's, Almodovar's and animation movies: I personally love Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Julie has been to Lapland, above the polar circle, where she slept in a tipi, admired northern lights and rode a husky sledge.
I went travelling by myself in continental China (Sichuan, Guangxi and Yunnan) where I hiked the gorges of the leaping tiger for 2 days and made my way speaking only Chinese.

Teach, Learn, Share

We can teach French and french cooking (as well as French way of drinking wine). I can teach you a bit about Chinese and Julie a bit about Scandinavian culture. We'd be happy to learn about Italian way of life, and the secrets of Milan and Venice.
