About Me
I had a couchsurfing profile in 2009 but have not used it ever since, and the email I used to have is not actice anymore so I can't access it or even edit it :( I have good references and had an amazing experience with it and made lifelong friends... you can see my profile, it is under EuroLaura.
I was born in Manizales, Colombia and lived there the first 10 years of my life. Then, my family and I moved to Miami, USA and I have lived in the US (now Orlando) for 15 years. Ever since I was little I was interested in France; the language is simply beautiful, the culture, the places and the people intrigued me. I knew I was going to end up going someday, so after High School graduation all I did was work and work, finding out information to move to France. After all the hard work, I FINALLY MADE IT!! And I wouldnt have it any other way. The fact that I was determined to accomplish my dream, that I worked hard for it and it wasnt simply given to me, makes me appreciate every step I take here, every person I meet, every second that passes by. I was a Jeune Fille Au Pair- which basically means I live with a French family (therefore perfectioning the language, living the culure..living the french life.) for ten months... During my time there, I welcomed 2 couchsurfers to show them around the city!
To complete my year there, I just finished a two month eurotrip by myself and it was simply AMAZING. The people one meets while traveling, specially alone, are people you will never forget. Such great phylosophies, such different ways of looking at life... the essence of your being looking into someone elses essence... no age, race...nothing matters... as if traveling unites everyone.. amazing. I just finished my Eurotrip, from July 4th 2009 to August 30th 2009.
I went to Canada for a month and a half...after that.
In 2013, I did a 42-day roadtrip around the US National Parks, and it was breathtaking! I then went to Costa Rica, Mexico, and visited my home country, Colombia, in 2013 and 2014.
I just came back from Europe (Summer 2015) where I visited old friends I made during my travels (including CS members!).
I am currently living in Orlando with 3 roommates, so I can't host anyone, but it would be my pleasure to show you around- I am a big foodie and I will take you to get to know the local culture! There is so much more to Orlando than your Typical touristy/Disney spots. And if you are part of the LGBTQ community like me, I can also show you that part of the city!
I consider myself easygoing, my passion is definitely meeting people. Everyone has stories to tell, you can learn anything from anyone, it seems amazing to me how such different cultures, points of views, perspectives live in the same world.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Right now, I am back in Europe visiting old friends I haven't seen in 7 years! Many whom I met through this wonderful site.
I have a one night stop in Copenhagen and I am hoping to make a new friend to show me around the city and maybe let me use their couch- who knows, we may become life-long friends! :)

Music, Movies, and Books
"Anatomy of Being" by Shinji Moon... wonderful poetry book. That's an understatement.. even the set up is brilliant.
"Wild" by Cheryl Strayed- it's a memoir of when she hiked the PCT (Pacificl Coast Trail)...and she is so amazing at writing, that she uses amazing parallels to her personal life.. and you feel like you know her. God, so amazing.. especially if you like nature :)
If you want a philosophical book that's insanely genius and will tickle your brain, "Definition of Religion" by Hutchenson (forgot the first name)... the book is not about religion.
If you want a more spiritual book that gives you a really cool insight into Kabbalah (not a religion, like uninformed people think)... get "The Power of Kabbalah" by Yehuda Berg
And then your classic "The Alchemist" by Paulo Coelho is a must have.... "Veronika Decides to Die" is also brilliant and you won't put it down once you read the first page.
Ahh!! And "Half the Sky"!!! It is a book about the different stories young women in different parts of the world that have limited/no education/resources and how they have turned it around and made a mark... beautiful book about women empowerment.
Okay I'm done for now :)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have done a few fundraisers that I have poured my heart into... and it made my heart so happy to bring a whole community together for a good cause!
Teach, Learn, Share
I am a huge believer that the most important thing in life is to be happy and true to you.. no matter what it is you have to do! Never let your happiness depend on anyone!! Theres only one life, take advantage of it!
Go cavediving in Budapest, take the bâteau mouche in the heart of Paris, ice skate in the frozen lakes in Zaanse-Schans. Do whatever you have to... but BE HAPPY.
What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger. Those experiences that are not so positive, that you think prevent you from being happy? Just take them as a way to grow as a person, to be stronger and more secure for the better things that are about to come. no excuses. enjoy life.
