About Me

Heeey, i am Laura, a French girl living in Edinburgh at the moment. I quit my studies 3 years ago to move to Scotland and enjoy all of the beautiful parts of it.

I've been travelling quite a lot since I was 19, were I did my first big trip, backpacking alone around Europe. And the thing is I guess, as soon as you start solo travelling or even travelling generally speaking, you can't stop.

I used to study psychology, and even if I stopped I still have a very big interest about this subject, so I read books or watch documentaries about every kind of psychology, because there's sooo many of them.

I've done (I think) a lot of jobs and in different cities. I started as soon as I turned 18 as a lifeguard, when I was not studying my degree. Then hospitality: sales, kitchen porter, kitchen assistant, waitress, barista, receptionist... My last job is the one I fell in love with. I worked as a carer and it was the most incredible job I've ever had. I never thought I would enjoy it as much as I did, working 15h a day, sometimes up to 80h a week, seeing, hearing stuff which could break my heart. But it was nothing compared to everything this job gave me, and that's funny cause I loved patient and on an outside perspective you'd think we are the one giving the most because we are the one who have to take care of them (and I obviously did hahaha) but I felt like what they gave me was just (and that's maybe weird to say that) lifechanging.

Unfortunately, I quit this job and I'm gonna have to move back to France soon to finish my psychology degree and hopefully will become a psycholgist specialised in gerontology (lifechanging I said?)

I'd love to be able to host you guys if you send me a request but I unfortunately can't because of my flat which is too small, I don't even have a couch :/ but let me know if you want someone to show you around, if I'm not too busy I'd happily do so! Hopefully I'd be able to host in the future and give surfers a time as exceptional as I've had the chance to experience

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I used to be very sporty when I was younger but while growing up, I fell in love with learning new langages, so that’s my favorite past time

I love blues, jazz, reggae music! I don't really like watching TV, but i like series or movies which can make me think. It's the same thing for book, i really like to discover new thing, to understand what is around me, to put word on what i'm thinking. If you’re searching for a new and original type of books, I highly recommend George Perec’s ones.
