About Me

*please read my profile before making any request :)*

Hi there! I'm Laura, a 27 year old girl. I always find it difficult to describe myself, since I have a lot of "Lauras" inside, but in general I would say I'm an avid life lover, extrovert, honest, fun and kind. I love sharing and laughing and I find happiness in other people's happiness.

Last year I was living in Vancouver and then I traveled around Canada, the US and Mexico for 6 months. Now I am back home, and even though I miss the backpacker life, I'm also happy to be with my family and friends and to have some stability, at least for now. And I think it's a great opportunity to share my home and give back to the world and the beautiful people that has taken care of me while traveling.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Three of my favorite things in the world are meeting good and interesting people, traveling and sharing. If we mix these three things together, you'll know why i'm here

Interests

My main hobbies are traveling, cooking, eating, reading, writing, sports, singing in the shower when no one's listening, and meeting new people.

I own a blog where I post the recipes I create, so very often I combine two passions - cooking and writing.

I love nature (this is on my top list!), adventure sports and animals too. Being outdoors usually makes me (re)realize how beautiful this world is!

Oh, and I always need something that stimulates my mind. It can be something as nice and peaceful as reading or something deeper, for example when it comes to pushing limits and overcome fears.

Music, Movies, and Books

My mom says I started reading before talking (and that's saying a lot because I'm a good talker). I love reading, and I used to think that I was supposed to read all the classics and the books considered a "must". With time, I realized that you don't have to finish a book just because people say it's good. Do it because it fills your soul and it makes you learn,... do it because it makes you happy. Same rule applies for absolutely everything in life.

See? I talk a lot. Conclusion: I don't have a particular favorite book. I just love reading.

About music, it's not that I like it, it's that I need it. Usually I choose the songs depending on my mood but I'm always up for some good acoustic folk. Just don't make me listen to trance, techno, etc...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- Quit my job of 2 years, opened my laptop and booked a flight to Malaysia, with no plans, no expectations and zero regrets. I remember booking the first 3 nights in KL, and that's all I planned about that trip. I ended up staying there only two nights because I met two wonderful girls that today I call my friends, and started an adventure that last a bit more that three months (Malaysia - Borneo included - Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia and Singapore).

- I moved to Canada with 0 plans and only a working holiday visa. Ended up finding a job and a place to live on my first day there and, most importantly, met people that today I call family.

- There's more stories but it would probably be better to share them when I get to know you a bit more :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I could teach you some Spanish, or how to make a real "tortilla de patata" (a cliche, I know, but it's so good).

About learning... I'm looking forward to know what you can teach me:) There are probably loads of things.

I can share my home, which is my space, where I feel at ease. Opening my doors for you is not something that I would do for everyone so I expect you to be a nice and respectful person.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I live in the city center, in a small but cute apartment.

You'll have everything you need within walking distance, and also the metro station is super close from home.
I live with my partner and we are both very welcoming and have a lot of experience traveling.

I will do everything I can to make you feel comfortable, and I would love to share stories, but I have some rules that I need you to accept / follow in order for me to accept your request:

- I expect you to be respectful, both with us and the place
- If you need something, just ask!
- Please leave the place like you found it
- It is fine if you wanna do your thing and not be around much, but it would be nice to know a little bit about the person we have home
- When you send me a request, be original! I get a lot of requests, so if you have that extra thing that make me say: "that's it!" then it would be great.

*********I won't accept people that haven't read my profile and just copy/paste the same text for everybody just because they want free accommodation.*********
