We live on a small farm that has been in my husband's family since 1817. We have 3 horses, 1 large dog, and 3 cats. My husband is also a beekeeper. We are brand new with Couchsurfing, but my sister-in-law has been with the group for a few years. We love to travel and meet interesting people. We have been active with Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts for many years until our children aged out of the program. We have an adult son that lives with his wife in house next door to us, and we’re expecting our first grandchild. Our daughter is also an adult and still lives at home.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

From what my sister-in-law has told us, it is a wonderful way to experience other cultures from a local point of view. She has met so many wonderful people and has had such rich life experiences though couchsurfing. We're not in a position to host at this time, but would like to be able to in the future.

Interests

We love the outdoors. My husband and I met while camping, which is one of our favorite activities. We also like white water rafting, hiking, and swimming. When traveling, we like to eat at local hot spots. Chain restaurants are ok, but we prefer to dine at places you can't find everywhere.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like all types of music, but dislike songs with violent lyrics. 80s and 90s music is my favorite, but my husband loves country and bluegrass. I love to sing, and will sing along with anything that catches my ear. I'm an avid reader when I can find the time. I will read everything from trash novels to the classics. I most enjoy books based on true stories and celebrate people who have overcome adversity and triumphed. I enjoy most movies except for graphic horror movies. I admit that I'm a whimp, but my husband loves action adventure movies.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

There are so many amazing things that I have done during my career in nursing, but the most amazing thing is giving birth to my two beautiful children.
