About Me
Hello there,
this is Laura a 22 years old girl from Italy. I'm attending the university degree in medicine and surgery in Bologna.
I've been played violin since I was ten years old. Now I am playing violin in a big orchestra in Bologna, called Collegium Musicum Orchestra.
I used to practice different sports in the past, like swimming and volleyball. I am an active person and I like to stay in contact with the nature.
I studied ancient greek and latin, literature and philosophy at the high school, whereas at the university I'm studying science, biology, chemistry and physiology for example, so I have a omni-comprehensive culture.
I've been working for three years for an Italian voluntary company: I work with kids in hospital, in a pediatric first aid. This practice is called Clown therapy. I love doing it, because it's a personal moment in an ordinary day. Once, a parent came close to me and he requested a colored balloon for his daughter. I made a little flower. Few minutes later he came back again and he said just "thanks", because his daughter has laughed for the first time in that day.
As an Italian, I love food and I am a good cooker.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I would like to become an Au Pair because I want to improve my english and because I love meeting new people. I want to show my culture and learn also about different cultures.
I will soon leave for Manchester to become an Au Pair, so I think that Couchsurfing would be a good start point to contact different people who like travel like me or just hang out.

Music, Movies, and Books
Even though I grow up in a classic music world, I'm passionated in every kind of music. I recently become passionate about jazz. I really would like to go listen live music in some jazz club.
I am also addicted to the cinema: I try to go to the cinema several time in a week if it's possible. I like all type of films. Each summer Bologna presents a cinema festival consisting in film showing in the principle city square. It's so suggestive because the show starts late in the evening, when the lights of the city lit up and the air cooled.
I also love going to playhouse for watching both verse and prose performances.
About books: I love scientific divulgation books, but I also like thriller stories or books telling about ancient stories setting at Greeks and Romans time.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One of the most incredible thing I did is a music stage in Italy. I did it twice, in two consecutive summers . Me and other guys were included in a music project organized by a famous Italian singer. We were divided in an orchestra and a group of actors. We studied together for about two weeks and finally we performed in a theater with a musical. The project consisted in a reworking of some passages by famous classical music composers: Mozart and Rossini.
Teach, Learn, Share
I am a very curious person who believes that traveling is one of the best ways to share what we are or what we like. I would be really happy to share my travel moments with other people, to learn new aspects of their cultures and to convey what I know.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can show the Italian cuisine. Italy is very famous for the food and I think that food is an important aspect of each person's own culture. Our food has a story and it often represents the core of Italian towns traditions.
