ABOUT ME

We are a family of four. We have lived in Santa Cruz (which is the closest place to home that I know) and now we are in Switzerland - where Amadeus is from. We have two beautiful children that challenge and inspire us! We try to share our knowledge and not too much of our "luggage" with these people we are blessed to be raising. We are two adults - we have differnt life stories.....We are eclectic, hardworking, creative folks who try to learn and grow in this changing world. I have lived under the trees and stars, and in houses too - I prefer the trees and stars - when it`s not raining. I have hopped a train once on a 12 hour journey! Lived in intentional community, worked on farms, gone to college, have an on-again-off-again yoga practice. I prefer to bike for my transportation. I am very interested in being the change I want to see in the world - I am American and English - my blood relations are all over the world! Such is the life! I am blessed. Amadeus - has studied horticulture - leaning towards the organic side of things. He is bi-lingual - French/English. He is working full time - so I am the main one around. We both are interested in the idea of homesteading - simple living on the land. We are heading to California soon - to visit family - but if you are in the region - feel free to contact us.

Just started! I am amazed and inspired by the beauty of humanity that is being shared here! Woo hoo! Thanks to all! We will see....at the moment we are traveling....

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Okay...so yes....before the nifty technological world....I did a bit of surfing in the forest in Santa Cruz.....mostly I have slept on family members' couches or spare beds.....never have we stayed with someone that wasn`t somehow known to us. With my son, this is new era in his life. I love the CS concept - and believe that ultimately it can really benefit communities in many ways - for me, saving money by not staying in a hotel and spending it on a good restaurant meal with friends, or a bottle of wine - is my preference! As a family - we have never done any "surfing" together. I have surfed only once now, with my son. Before my daughter was born.

Interests

I speak mostly for myself here - but we are all interested in a lot of the same things.....Bicycling - mostly for transportation, a little for adventuring. Getting my hands in the dirt keeps me sane - so I love gardening. Community building. Eating dinner with friends around a big table, sharing a glass of wine or two and singing some songs together! Campfires! Forest walking and river swimming are big on my list! Lake swimming too for that matter! Want to milk goats and make cheese!

Music, Movies, and Books

Again.....it's hard speaking for a family - but here`s a couple - we are not big movie buffs....Never Ending Story, Harry Potter - I like the fantasy stuff. On the more serious side.....The Children of Men. I am a huge fan of Sesame Street!
Music: I love all music! Really! However I like to sing folk music - Seize the day!, Dana Lyons, Danny Dolinger, Kate Wolf - I love music with a spirit in it. I love to dance Salsa and I love Brazilian music and want to take Samba classes!!!! Amadeus is more worldly about his music. But he is open to most music that isn't pop.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hopped a train.....climbed a 12,000 ft peak.....had a child...had another one! oh...it said "one amazing thing".....

Teach, Learn, Share

I am very much a Sociologist at heart - and am fascinated by people - I have taken various classes on communication including Non-violent Communication and re-evaluation counseling. I am a trained massage practitioner. I love to garden and spend time with plants and in nature. Would love it if you have a guitar and I can play a song or two for you and you for me! Love to learn about more communication practices and child rearing. Love to know more about intentional communities, great places to hike and anything else you want to share or are passionate about - know how to Samba? Amadeus also plays a little guitar. He is a bit more shy about his skills. Can enjoy a good debate.
