Overview
About Me
I'm Laura (22) from Germany. I grew up in Munich, but moved to Lüneburg, a small city close to Hamburg, for my studies. I'm in the last year of my Bachelor's in Cultural Studies, Philosophy and Political Science. Hoping to save the world one day, that is ;)
I always loved travelling, but spending an exchange semester in Ankara and travelling through Turkey made me even more curious about exploring further parts of the world.
Love going out, exploring places, having good conversations, sitting in a nice café with a good book, learning new things, being outside in the nature, strolling through city streets, dancing, cooking, dogs, and writing from time to time.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
For me, travelling is not mainly about seeing the main tourist attractions, but also about getting to know other cultures, getting out of my comfort zone, learning from my experiences, and especially: meeting people!
I think couchsurfing is a great opportunity to get to know interesting people, to widen my horizon, and to approve my language skills.
Furthermore, I like the concept of couchsurfing: sharing your couch for other - perhaps more important - things than money!

Music, Movies, and Books
Regarding music, I'm pretty open-minded. Depending on the occasion it can vary from Indie- and Alternative Rock, Jazz, HipHop or Techno to Classical Music. On bad nights you can even catch me on trashy 90s parties, or singing along with some plain vanilla chart songs, but that's rather an exception I'd say. However, I don't like to put myself (or other people) in categories ;)
I have a huge list of movies and books I've wanted to watch/read for a while, so this list might change pretty regularly. However, I'll give it a try!
Books I loved were...
- Christiane F. - Die Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo
- George Orwell - 1984
- Aldous Huxley - Brave New World
- William Golding - Lord of The Flies
- basically any children's book by Astrid Lindgren
- Harry Potter - ALL of them!
- Morton Rhue - The Wave
- F. Scott Fitzgerald - The Great Gatsby
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Well I don't like showing off and pretending like I'm the most interesting person you'll ever meet. But some nice memories that come to my mind with this question are...
- Paraglyding in Fethiye
- Watching the sunset in Kappadokia
- Watching children playing with soapbubbles in the heart of London
- Jumping into Munich's Eisbach in summer
- Watching the lights' reflections in the water of Hamburg's Elbe
Teach, Learn, Share
As I'm one of these people who could never decide for one single hobby, I have a few things which I kind of started doing, but would love to approve. If you play the guitar, maybe you can help me refresh the 10 chords I could play a year ago. In case you're a good cook and maybe even like to prepare traditional meals of your country, I would love to learn something from you (trying to live vegan though)! Maybe you're good with cameras, then I'd be super happy to upgrade my photography skills or learn some stuff about filmmaking. Of course I would be happy to learn some words of your language as well! Other things I would be interested in learning are handcrafting, recycling stuff in a cool way and how to orientate myself around new places without a map.
In return, I can offer some superficial knowledge in sociology, politics and philosophy (although philosophy, of course, is not about knowledge anyways ;)), pretty basic cooking skills, and maybe some life lessons or supposed wisdoms I will share with you without being asked for it :D
What I Can Share with Hosts
I normally bring some German specialties, invite my host(s) for a nice dinner, or prepare some food for them myself. Apart from that, I'm happy to share some time, stories, and hopefully some laughths :)
