About Me
Hi there! My name is Laura and I'm a student living in London; I'm studying Zoology BSc and have a huge love of nature! Currently, I volunteer at the Natural History Museum (London) in the butterfly house and sometimes work with London Zoo. A lot of my free time is spent exploring around me, both urban and wild, which ties in nicely with my hobby of Geocaching. I'm a writer at heart and enjoy building worlds and creating fictional adventures based upon my own. My diet is usually vegetarian but I'm happy to try new and local foods regardless; I had a reindeer curry in Norway which was a treat!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Couchsurfing seems like a cool way to get out to see the world and meet some great people. I've always loved travelling but hate just staying in hotels; in my experience, you see so much more of a country by living alongside locals and being immersed in the culture. Getting to meet new friends on my travels is a huge draw to visiting a new place. I've maintained pen friends around the world and I'd love to find a few more. As a note, I'm not interested in hooking up with hosts or surfers - just friends please!

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Indie, Rock or Metal - almost anything really, just not a huge fan of rap!
Movies: Animated films aren't just for kids; Studio Ghibli produces some awesome one. I'm a big fan of films with adventurous plots and huge worlds for the characters to roam in.
Books: Science fiction and fantasy genres are favoured, but I do enjoy a few non-fiction books to learn more about the world. I love Neil Gaiman, J.R.R. Tolkien and Douglas Adams though!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I was travelling in Iceland back in 2010 to see some natural wonders: I hiked up a dormant volcano, saw geysers erupting, stood under waterfalls and walked over glaciers. I would do anything to see it all again in the company of a local guide!
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach: some of my favourite recipes, cool nature and help with English if it's not your first language.
Learn: how to live like a local and a few words of a new language would be great!
Share: some good stories and a friend for life.
What I Can Share with Hosts
If you're available whilst I'm surfing with you, I'd gladly cook a home meal or socialise on a night out. I'm a pretty tidy person but I can always help around your home with whatever you'd like - general cleaning, cooking, even gardening would be a just small way to help say thank you for letting me stay. I'd love to bring some food and snacks from the UK to any hosts overseas; there will be tea and scones at the very least!
