About Me

Hello, Nameste, Salut,
My name is Laura, A 21 year old American. I just completed a 2 year travel stint, making it around Europe, Australia, NZ, and Asia. I am defined at this point in time, by the experiences I've had, lessons I've learned, and friends I've collected from all over the world. I'd love to share experiences with those willing to host all walks of life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Why is anyone couchsurfing? To be able to stay with locals in completely foreign places, learn from their way of life, make friends, save a bit of money, all while making the world a little smaller just through our wide spread connections. Sounds like no better way to travel, and I can't believe it's taken me so long to get on board with it.

Interests

PEOPLE. I love people.
I'm a lover of food, I dance at every given chance, and appreciate real conversation. I like to immerse myself in the culture of those abroad and attempt to find authentic ways to do so.

Music, Movies, and Books

I recently read The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, and it has quickly made its way to the top of my list of favorite books. I recommend it to anyone in love with or simply interested in the way our world and people interact. I'm currently reading Buddhism Plain and Simple by Steve Hagen, which can give you insight into my most recent spiritual path.
Trevor Hall, Lauryne Hill, and Nahko Bear make up a short list of my favorite artists, obviously quite into acoustic music, with a bit of r&b and reggae vibes.
Movies...anything with Denzel Washington, or Will Smith (pre-Jaden Smith era). But one of my favorites will always be Finding Memo.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

At 18, I set a goal. To travel, solo, around the world for a year. I worked extremely hard to fund my goal, bought a plane ticket to my first destination, which was Montpellier, France, and have been away from home ever since. Now, just over 17 months ago.
This to me is amazing, because it taught me that I can achieve, truly achieve, anything I set my mind to. A concept I wish to help everyone believe.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am traveling with the intent of meeting people who can inspire me to think open-mindedly and thusly shape my opinions on the world. I learn in some form, from virtually everything thrown my way. And inturn, I can teach through simple discussion, a lot of what I've learned.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share an eclectic fusion of values, beliefs, and experiences derived from my travel bug with anyone I stay with! I can also make some delicious Asian cuisines.
