About Me

A decent easy going person, always trying to get a little better

Likes: Flea Markets, Ketchup, NPR, lounging around outside, nice people, old cars, good deeds, left-field conversations, books, making stuff, headphones, derelict places, adventures outdoors, finding a new band/album that fits your mood like a glove. Birdsong. Travelling.

Dislikes: Drama (unless it's on TV), closed-mindedness.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To connect with the people and places that I visit, meet interesting people, trade ideas, stories and experiences.

I feel mean because my living situation (a tiny studio flat) means it's not really possible to host- but I don't want to be a taker. So if anyone is visiting Bournemouth and fancies a coffee or would like some recommendations of things to see or do, I'll be happy to meet you & help you out if I can.

Interests

I love audio-documentaries and podcasts (like This American Life, Wiretap, Everything is Stories, Radiolab etc...) Sometimes I mess around and try to make my own...(really just learning that).

I like making stuff too and have a big pile of 'that'll come in handy for something one-day' stuff in my flat. I volunteer for a local craft charity and help out at a community garden when I get the time.

Dancing with lots of enthusiasm & no coordination (or shame!). Like most people, spending good times with friends & family.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like graphic novels like Jimmy Corrigan Smartest Kid on Earth & Harvey Pekar, Raymond Carver short stories, I've just finished The Heart is a Lonely Hunter (liked it a lot).

My music taste is pretty broad...The Smiths, Sebastian Tellier, Modest Mouse, Yo La Tengo, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Brahms, Squarepusher, John Coltrane, Parliament, Cream, Cash, Glass Animals, Amon Tobin...lots of stuff.

Really love Michel Gondry films. Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind is a favourite. Brief Encounter, spaghetti westerns, The Goonies. Just binge watched Twin Peaks (I'm so behind the times...)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Jumped out of a plane

Teach, Learn, Share

I could play the violin 20 years ago- so maybe a little bit of reading music? I studied Scriptwriting at Uni, so know a little about that too.

At risk of sounding cheesy, I like to learn and hear about new stuff....so whatever you're into, I'd like to hear about it!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Hopefully; stories, good times, recommendations for books, movies, music- any information about places I've visited. Food and drink (but I am a shocking cook, so please set your expectations low)
