About Me

Heya, I'm Laura. I grew up on a farm in the countryside of Co Down, Northern Ireland. I'm a recent graduate from studying history at a university in England and have spent the last year travelling in Latin America and working at home in Ireland to earn money for further travels. I'm spending parts of this summer visiting Europe, and would love to learn Spanish while I'm here.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to meet new people, and am very excited to get to know interesting folk with shared interests. I think the philosophy behind couch surfing is just fab and look forward to spending time with local people I otherwise wouldn't get the chance to meet.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love listening to anything, including pop or more chilled out folk music, plus techno or drum and bass for nights out. I recently finished reading "A Little Life" by Hanya Yanagihara- an incredibly sad but moving and amazingly well told novel about a group of friends in NYC. I've really enjoyed films set in Ireland, including black comedies like The Guard, or Calvary. Plus I thought Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri so lived up to all the hype.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My favourite experience recently was travelling throughout Latin America, and I spent some time with friends plus some time alone. During that solo time I worked in a hostel in Mancora, Peru, where I got to know such a varied group of people and had an amazing time.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd love to learn Spanish, about other cultures and people's different ways of life. I'm keen to experience more of the outdoors including hiking and climbing, as well as music and food!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm a friendly person and keen to learn loads from other people. I hope to be a considerate guest and get to know anyone I stay with well.
