About Me

To be fair, I'm only just at the beginning stages of Spanish. And I'm quite crap at French too. But they are both goals to work towards.
I have taught Primary, Special Ed and for the last few years adults with Intellectual Disabilities. Love my career but I'm in a bit of a what's next phase.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet new people, expand my horizons and I love to travel. I've always found the most interesting places are the places locals suggest.
I'd also love to learn to live more ethically, sustainably and I think the couchsurfing crew may have interesting perspectives on this.

Interests

Being in the Snowy Mountains, art, theatre, mindfulness, 1930's films, laughs with old friends and new. On the to do list, I'd like to learn to surf.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - I'm a little shocked at myself but I love folksy stuff. Anything with a beautiful storyline.
From dad's old records to something fun to dance to, I like most music.
Movies - Happy Gilmore, The Princess Bride, Evil Dead 1, 2 & 3., Pre-censorship old school Hollywood films are all tops.
Books - I love reading. I have a list as long as my arm I'd like to get through. Bugger the Kindle, I still like flipping the pages of a great book.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Half way through an Austrian rock concert, I stopped silently in Salzburg's main square and with 2000 others, waltzed. It was midnight, New Years Eve, and it was snowing. That was pretty cool.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'd be happy to help with cooking, groceries, household jobs. I did bust my back many years ago. It doesn't slow me down too much but I'm probably not the best at chopping and carrying firewood. It wouldn't however stop me sleeping on a kind host's couch.
What else? Our family seem to be pretty good story tellers. It's a gift I hope I've gained from them all. Happy to sit, listen and share tales of adventure or just life's meandering tales.
