About Me

Hello! :) I’m Cat. Before traveling, I lived with my girlfriend Hailey in Austin, Texas. We decided to finally go for it and live our dream life, so we bought a van and lived in that for a while. And then we decided to take the next step and travel the world.
Now, we’ve been backpacking for over three years and living life to the fullest. I don’t want to look back with any regrets. We’ve met the most amazing lifelong friends <3 That’s been the best part of it all. But now it’s time to get a job and start a life in Australia :) If you want to see a very short video about our story (no, we are not influencers lol, but our friend wanted to make this video in two days), you can check it out on my Instagram: cat.ion

About us:
Cat- Libra. Type 2 enneagram. Love language- Acts of Service
Hailey- Leo. Type 3 enneagram. Love language- Quality Time
We’ve been together 7 years now and have so much love for each other and for people we meet.

I have a degree in conservation biology, but I’m even more interested in making music. Sustainability is always on my mind though. I worked on research farms and horse farms in college and then once I graduated, I decided I didn’t want to follow the normal pipeline of getting a career, marrying a man, having kids, retiring, and then dieing. I don’t believe in being miserable but rich and then waiting for retirement to enjoy life. You never know if you will even live another day. So now I work at restaurants when I settle in a city and then travel and meet amazing people. I’ve traveled across and up and down the US a few times living in my car. All of my and my girlfriend’s belongings fit in two plastic containers under the bed, and we ate canned beans every single day haha. Now I’m doing it for a third time but in a bigger van that actually has a kitchen.

Every CS experience I’ve had has been a good one. I can get along with anyone, and I am extremely open minded. We all have different life experiences, and even if we disagree, we can still learn why someone feels the way they do and try to understand them. I always remember that I only have control over my emotions and my life, so I don’t let anyone affect my peace. I’m a very chill person, but I’m also very spontaneous and love trying new things. I just want to spread the joy of living 100% true to yourself without fear. Nothing feels more freeing than being true to yourself without worrying about what others think.

Hosting: Excited to have new experiences and make friends. I’m also fine with just giving you a place to sleep if you need. I’m really laid back and can enjoy chilling at home or a night out dancing like no one is watching. I just love being alive and making the best of everything, and I hope that maybe we can impact each other’s lives. And I know a ton of cool places all over the United States from living in my car, so feel free to ask me for recommendations!

If you want to see how I live (or the rare parts I share), my Instagram is cat.ion and Hailey’s is somefeely

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The most interesting people are probably couchsurfers. I don't have much money, but I work really hard and love helping and meeting people. Couchsurfing has been an incredible experience. We are all so similar. I bet we have more similarities than differences. And I think I’ve seen the good side of humanity through this.

Music, Movies, and Books

All music, but mostly bedroom pop, indie, alternative rock, lo fi, and punk rock. I also like country music from the 90s and typical pop songs you would find in a gay bar haha. And I love rap and metal music too. I would love to share music with each other.

I could list hundreds of bands but....

Cherry Glazerr, Depeche Mode, Shopping, Alvvays, Porridge Radio, The Cure, Blood Orange, Alice Phoebe Lou, Meghan Thee Stallion, Sylvan Esso, Slothrust, Prince, Doja Cat, Courtney Barnett, Daughter, Ty Segall, Queen, Thee Oh Sees, Lomelda, Estrons, Little Dragon, Angel Olsen, Mk.gee, Soko, Benny Sings, Chromatics, Van Halen, Vagabon, Big Thief, Florist, Mothers, Hand Habits, Emily Yacina, Men I Trust, Jakob Ogawa, Kendrick Lamar, Frankie Cosmos, The Marias, Wolf Alice, Mac DeMarco

Movies: anything not Hollywood

One of my favorite books is Frankenstein, but I mostly read queer books or Buddhist/meditation books now. I have like 200 books on my kindle!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Lived out of a 28 liter backpack for almost 3 years.

Motorbiked all of Vietnam from the south to the north.

Swam at the top of the biggest waterfall in Asia!

Motorbiked most of Thailand.

Went diving in the longest cenote in Mexico.

Jumped off a cliff with a stranger who had a hang glider a week ago April 2025

Did this 3 times: Moved out of a big house and got rid of all my belongings and moved into a van. It was very freeing to let all my favorite belongings go. One was a tiny van with 3 other band mates, so I slept on the floor.

Fell in love at first sight!

Teach, Learn, Share

I want to learn about cultures that differ from my own.
Things I can teach: how to travel in the United States and what you should see there. And how to cheaply turn a car into a mobile home... And how to play guitar! I also have a drum set and can teach you how to drum.
I want to learn Spanish.
I can cook you vegan meals!
Hailey can teach you German
