About Me

I'm a friendly and free-spirited 33 year old female, who has been curious about everything and anything since the day I was born.... which is most probably the main reason why I like to travel so much!

My favourite things in life are my husband, my sister, my beautiful niece, being outdoors in nature, hiking, travelling, CATS, meaningful conversation, deserted beaches, baking, good coffee and large glasses of red wine.
I am interested in personal development, and enjoy practising yoga and mindfulness (although I need to work on being a bit more disciplined with both of these activities!).
I am passionate about helping to raise awareness of mental health matters, and helping to break down the stigma surrounding this area.
I aspire to worry a little less and to live a lot more. I would like to speak French fluently, cycle all over the globe, own a cattery, run my own business, join a circus and learn how to Salsa.
I dislike small-talk, greed, shallowness, closed-minds, and cauliflower.

My friends have often described me as a 'nurturer' which I think is a pretty accurate description as I care deeply about people, animal's and the planet :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Simple! It will allow me to have enriching and interesting interactions with people from all over the world. Whether I am hosting, or being hosted, being a Couchsurfing member will enable me to live in community with others :)

I am excited to start hosting in the future, but for now, myself and my husband Tom, have taken a year out from our lives in the UK, to travel and connect with people all over the world. We have recently completed a 6 month bike tour through Europe, during which time we were lucky enough to be hosted by some amazing people within another hosting community ('Warm Showers').
We are now embarking upon the second part of our trip which will involve backpacking through New Zealand, Australia and South East Asia, and we would love to spend time with people within the Couchsurfing community. I couldn't think of anything more depressing than travelling all over the world and not meeting people who live locally! In my experience, it is this intercultural exchange that makes the journey so much more meaningful. I thrive upon meeting new people from different countries, immersing myself in local culture, learning about the history of places we are passing through and of course, tasting local cuisine :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

(Not sure I can chose 1 thing!!!)

- Marrying the love of my life in 2015
- Qualifying as a Midwife
- Cycling through Europe with my husband for 6 months
- Wild swimming, wild camping and enjoying a whole summer of midnight sun in the Nordic countries.
- Train ride from Oslo to Bergen (not just your average train journey that's for sure!!! proper bucket list stuff).
- Walking 100km over 24 hours to raise money for a mental health charity
- Rowing at midnight around a Finnish lake, bathing in the light of the full moon.
- Proper, authentic Finnish sauna!!
- Partying hard in Jordanian and Syrian gay bars, in 2010.
- Observing the work of a truly inspirational palliative care nurse at a medical centre in Malawi in 2009

Teach, Learn, Share

"When you have more than you need, build a bigger table, not a higher fence"

"You were wild once, don't let them tame you"

"The trick is, and there's a little bit of heartbreak, you have to just give up on the idea of being a princess. You have to give up on the idea of being fabulous. My kind of base position on existence is that you just have to admit that you're a bit of a twat" (Caitlin Moran)

What I Can Share with Hosts

My infectious laugh, tales from my life on the road, deep and meaningful conversation?

Perhaps how to deliver a baby? HA!

I love to bake cakes for people....served preferably with a really decent cup of tea (I am a Brit, after all!)
