About Me

I grew up gallivanting around the forest and fields on a hilltop in rural Nova Scotia. We raised angora goats and always had various animals (including humans) coming and going. After travelling, I became a nurse and moved back to Nova Scotia to live a life of milking the cow before heading off to my twelve hour shift. Although I loved nursing and practiced emergency room nursing for ten years, in 2016 I wanted to fully engage in my artistic life (I had a screenprinting business at the time) and have worked on and off for the Bread and Puppet Theater since.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Living with and meeting people from different places was part of my upbringing, part of my nursing career and one of the things that I love about touring with a puppet theater. I am currently travelling, in part, to learn more about puppetry - taking courses and seeing art. Besides not having the funds to support a more conventional way of travel, I want to connect with people in the places I go.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books : Jane Eyre, The Promise of Happiness, George Saunders short stories....
Music is too big of a category, depends on what I am playing (new orleans style jazz, classical, Balkan...)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Flipped over my handle bars and landed on feet!!! (This happened once when I was in my twenties and doing a lot of capoeira. I have since flipped over my handle bars and broken my hand - not so amazing. )

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach puppet building, oil painting, drawing.... I could also learn more about any of these things.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Stories of farm life in Nova Scotia and of touring with a radical puppet theater troupe. Pancakes and pie and lots of soup are also things I like to share. My ear perhaps.
