About Me

Currently travelling the world on a culinary journey of discovery, seeking out local recipes, tips and techniques as one half of the Wandercooks. Unable to host until we return to the land of Aus sometime in 2016! Check out our website www.wandercooks.com and see where we are at! :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing is probably the best way to truly visit a country and immerse yourself in its culture! I couldn't think of anything more boring than travelling all the way to another country just to spend time in a generic hotel.

Some of the best times I've had while travelling have been the random experiences shared with hosts, from cooking meals together and sharing a glass of wine, to swapping language tips, going on exciting hikes or rambling walks through whichever city we are in.

I love to meet interesting people with a story to tell.

Interests

Hiking, reading, sailing, horse riding, exploring, geocaching, cooking, food and wine. Stories shared around a campfire or over a glass of wine.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books... I love the fantasy genre with an epic travel slant. Lord of the Rings, The Three Worlds Trilogy, and anything by Kylie Chan, Anne Bishop, Jean Auel, and Phillip Pullman immediately spring to mind.

Music... this one changes all the time depending on what mood I'm in but I love almost anything on Triple J radio station back home, especially Kygo, Kilter, Rufus, Flume and Chet Faker. Other times I love Jazz, Chilled Lounge or anything with a killer bass line.

Movies! Tough.. Anything that makes me laugh or has me on the edge of my seat with suspense. This is probably easier to answer with TV shows actually, then I can say things like The Walking Dead, True Blood, New Girl, Pretty Little Liars, Game of Thrones.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Quitting my job, selling my belongings and buying a one way ticket to Japan via Singapore. The intention? Travel the world for one year to see, do and eat as much as possible, staying with locals and exchanging our cultures along the way.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Recipes from around the world and random bizarre words and expressions in many languages!
