About Me

Hey guys!
I´m Laura and I really have to say that first: I´m quite bad at describing myself but I´m trying my best. At the moment I´m studying psychology at the University of Göttingen in Germany. And don´t worry I´m not completely mad (a lot of people think that if you tell them you are studying psychology, I have really no idea why). Maybe just a little crazy sometimes… But life would be too boring if it were any different anyway. I think I´m an open minded person and quite sociable. I´m living together with ten people in a shared house so I´m used to meeting people I´ve never met before quite often and get along with plenty kinds of people. I´m a very talkative person, so if you´d like long conversations, no matter if they are discussions, late night deep talks (also possible during the day) or just some fun talk, we could get along quite well. I like getting to know new people and just have a laid back time and lots of fun while travelling while I also want to see and experience as much as possible from the place I´m staying at. I´m kind of confused half the time and am quite bad at planning, but am lucky enough that it just works out in the end. Also I´m getting lost too often which isn´t too bad because through that I got to know quite cool people and places and ended up with an optimistic few of the world and the ability to laugh about myself.
Because I can´t put my interests into the supposed field (I have no idea why) here they are:
I like being around people and doing stuff with friends, either just to chill or to do something more like a city trip or playing laser tack. I also love to go out no matter if it´s dancing the hole night long or just sitting around somewhere with some beer talking. When I´m not occupied with university or friends, I enjoy reading, listening to music or (mostly in the summer) sitting around in the sun watching what´s going on around me. And of course I love travelling and will hopefully do that a lot in the future. This summer I´m planning to travel around Europe.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love travelling and experiencing new things, but after living in Ireland for some time I learned that you can´t really get to know a country or city without getting to know the people living there. You just miss out the way of life, a good part of the atmosphere and the most of the special places. I also love meeting new and interesting people and extend my horizon.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to music nearly all the time, sometimes just as something in the background, sometimes to just resolve in it. I have a really broad taste in music, I listen to techno as well as to classic, jazz, reggae, rock and hip hop/rap. It just has to fit to the moment, the situation and my mood. Maybe because of that I´m always open to get to know something new and be convinced that it has its special something.

Something I´m also very fond of is reading. A few of my favourite books are “Der Steppenwolf” (Hesse), "The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy" (Adams), “The Perfume” (Süskind), “The Picture of Dorian Gray” (Wilde), and “War with the Newts” (Capek). Sometimes I also like to read some short stories from Lovecraft or engage myself in Nietzsche´s work.

I love movies with interesting, unconventional, totally crazy and therefor kind of funny characters and storylines with no good and bad cliché. Some of my favourite directors are Tarantion and Almodovar. Moreover I like movies with an interesting idea like Inception or the Matrix movies. But I also enjoy watching some horror, comedy or action movies from time to time.

Teach, Learn, Share

I hope we will share an amazing time, but I´m not quite sure that I could teach you something useful except of course some German swear words / drinking sayings / (bad) pick-up-lines for you to impress your friends. And of course I´m always open myself to learn something new depending on what you have to offer.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Hopefully nice talks and funny moments. If you´d like that I would invite you to a glass of wine as a thank you. Or if you have the time and feel like it I would really enjoy it if you´d show me around a little (your favourite places to go to, nice cafes, bars or clubs…). I´m uncomplicated and spontaneously with things like that. What turns out to happen happens, what not does not.
