À propos de moi

CURRENT MISSION

If it's true that "life isn't about finding yourself, life is about creating yourself" (George Bernard Shaw) then my mission is to create myself.

ABOUT ME

I was born in Michigan, grew up in Michigan, and remained in Michigan for university... but since then I've lived in Brooklyn, Boston, and now Portland Maine. I've tried to surround myself with as many interesting and different people as I can! I am short, have curly hair, and have a high energy for life. I am currently a research assistant and am passionate about improving public institutions. I am applying to PhD programs at business schools and in economics, so am pretty busy for the next few months but if the timing works out I'd love to host! I spend my free time exploring (the world, mountains, my own mind) and cuddling with my cat Caesar.

PHILOSOPHY

Never take the same route home.

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

I've surfed with many hosts in Italy, Greece, Norway, the US, and had a wonderful experience each time. My partner Daniel and I hosted CSers at our apartments in Brooklyn and Boston, but it has been a while since we last opened up our home. I am looking forward to contributing more to this wonderful community and hosting here in Portland!

Centres d'intérêt

I enjoy thinking about, and trying to solve, broad social issues, and started a digital justice enterprise in Detroit. I also like opening up my mind through books... particularly literary classics and feminist treatises on life. I practice yoga 2-3 times a week. I LOVE food, especially shopping for it and coming up with creative ways to cook it.

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

Let's see - I like several hip hop artists (The Roots, Kanye, Kendrick, J Cole, Frank Ocean, SZA), and a lot of my music taste is influenced by pop/alternative rock bands like Stars, Haim, and Pink Floyd. I do also like musical soundtracks... Hamilton (duh), Aida and Les Miserables top that list.

My favorite movies are Amelie, Spirited Away, and Garden State. I enjoy angsty, dark humored movies, but boy do I love Pixar movies :) The thing is, I nearly always prefer the book to the movie when there is a book! My favorite books are Harry Potter (the essence of my childhood), The Godfather series, 1984 and other dystopian fiction, The Song of Ice and Fire series are also close to my heart. Lastly, I'll always consider Le Petit Prince to be one of the best books of all time.

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

I've white-water-rafted and cliff-traversed in Costa Rica. The latter was probably one of the most terrifying experiences of my life.

Enseignez, apprenez, partagez

I can teach you how to make bomb salads and share some of my academic knowledge of economics, policy, and history. Would love to learn bits and pieces of as many languages as possible and get a broader perspective on how different people live their lives.
