CURRENT MISSION
To see how long I can keep going
ABOUT ME
So I have a full head of curly red hair and still have people asking me if I've seen the film 'Brave'. I agree with the comparison, but trust me, my Scottish accent is nowhere near as grating. I am a reasonably small person, which means I don't take up much room in Hosts' houses. I am a bit of a giggler, which people appreciate when they make terrible jokes. Generally I'm pretty relaxed and have a friendly, freckly face.
PHILOSOPHY
Seek out whatever you enjoy. I like good snow....hence after a few years trying, I'm in Japan!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
At the moment I am new, so I'm afraid I will not have much to put here. I hope to do some surfing for now as I'm on the move round USA and wherever I settle I hope to have a very comfy couch to offer.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
So, couchsurfing is something I signed up to as a solo traveller as it's such a good way to meet some colourful characters. However, since then, I have luckily found myself travelling with some companions and therefore am still a newcomer to this whole thing. I have heard nothing but good stories from others however, and am looking forward to giving it a go!
Interests
So, the observant ones will notice a pattern and see that snowboarding is pretty much my main source of excitement in this world. It's not everything though, I can also ski quite badly. The only thing I love to do equally as much as Snowboarding and skiing badly is taking photos and pretty much always have my camera over my shoulder. While moving around, there is often a guitar floating around, with knowledgeable players and I love trying to pick up what I can. It's going slowly. Apart from that stereotypical description of most backpacker types I do also like shortbread, taking notes and, being a redhead, finding a good suncream. Oh, and big fan of Science!

Music, Movies, and Books
I would describe my musical persuasion as a range between Angus and Julia Stone and Justice. Vague enough? Currently I'm listening to pretty, almost folky style bands, but dancing is for Soul, Funk and Swing. My most recent film I loved was Away We Go, super sweet. I tend to be overstimulated by action films and so hide from them if possible as I have fallen asleep in cinemas before. Not much reading going on as it's been go go go, but I've been carrying A History of God around for a while. Not religious in any sense, just want to know where on earth it came from.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The mossy forests of Nikko with shrines, lanterns and pathways scattered all around. Very atmospheric.
Teach, Learn, Share
The quickest way to empty a bottle of liquid, is to spin it fast until a tube of air forms, then hold it still and the liquid will rush out. Same as downing a bottle with a straw poking out, or 'strawpedo' as the young'uns call it.
