ABOUT ME

I was born on the large, but sparsely populated island of Newfoundland, Canada. My family moved to Senegal when I was 5 so I grew up there mostly but , moved back to Canada for University. Unable to stay put, but trying to for at least a while I have recently moved back to Canada, specifically to the suburbia of Mississauga, after working in Kenya and Ghana. I'm loud and outgoing but it takes a while to see that side of me. I am sarcastic, but I prefer to think I'm hilarious.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Hmm I definitely checked out of CS when I got back from France, mainly because no one ever seemed to be travelling through my part of the world, so it got a bit boring checking in regularly. But I do love the spirit of CS and have had awesome experiences hosting and surfing, meeting new people and places and sharing with others.

I would love to make friends in the area, in particular people in Mississauga or west Toronto. I can also host, but if you aren't familiar with the area, know that Mississauga to downtown Toronto is 30 minutes if there is truly no traffic, by public transit its about an hour and half. My house is fairly close to the airport though, so if you are on your way in/ or out it could be a good stopover.

Interests

Food, new foods, baking and cooking and then to counter that- swimming, basketball and maybe running (depending on the amount of motivation/ chocolate consumed), crafting, knitting, pinteresting, reading, wandering into the weird side of youtube, farmer's markets, walking, spending time with my family, gardening, travelling, sustainability, women's studies, linguistics, Africa, African music, the ocean, markets, crowds, festivals, free samples, sunshine, smiles, making fun of people, making fun of myself, wine...

Please note that I am a home by midnight kind of person, so I'm happy to go out for drinks, but if you are looking for someone to show you the hottest club I'm not your person.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: I like documentaries, comedies, foreign films, some indie films, basically it has to make me laugh or make me think. I generally dislike action movies or thrillers/horror films.
Books: Kurt Vonnegut, The Handmaid's Tale... I need to read more
