ABOUT ME

Me and my boyfriend Sean are on a 20 month mission to see the US, Central and South America. We are interested in meeting others who share an adventurous spirit and can give us good tips about the towns they live in.

As CouchSurfers so far but plan to host when we eventually return to the UK.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

It's all pretty new to us but we love the concept.

Laura: Drinking tea, seeing the world, reading, learning about different cultures, knitting, camping and campfires, baking, watching live music, eating, drinking tea (you can never have enough tea).

Sean: Literature, writing, cooking and eating good food, music (playing and watching), football (soccer).

Music: Bob Dylan, The Smiths, Fleet Foxes, Arcade Fire, Micah P Hinson, Devendra Banhart, Neil Young, Velvet Underground, folky stuff, old French stuff, indie stuff, the odd bit of gypsy jazz.

Movies: Most things by Mike Leigh or Ken Loach. Classic comedies, indie flicks, documentaries and British classics.

Books: Steinbeck (Travels with Charley is one of the best travel books out there), Orwell, Kerouac and The Beats, Ian Banks, JD Salinger, Roddy Doyle, Tom Wolfe, Bret Easton Ellis, Hunter S Thompson, Hemingway and many more.

I have a terrible memory so these are from the past week - cycling through the Vermont countryside, catching a skunk stealing the food I'd saved for breakfast from my tent, making cider with an Amish apple press. All of which are a first.
