About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Figuring out what to do with myself now that I've got a degree and visiting as many places around the US as I can in the meantime.

ABOUT ME

I really like adventure and getting to see new places. I'm sticking to adventure within the states for a while. Which is fine with me, since there is still lots of my own country I have yet to explore. I have plans to land myself back in school eventually, but I have no idea how long it'll take me to get there.

PHILOSOPHY

I guess at the base level I live life for the experiences it brings. When I'm old I want to be able to say I took every opportunity and have thousands upon thousands of stories to relate that will encourage others to do the same.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've been surfing in various places, mostly in Europe. If I could I'd offer a couch, but I don't own one currently, so I'm open for coffee and guided tours of wonderful Kansas City instead.

Music, Movies, and Books

This category is always really dificult for me because I like lots of movies, music styles, and thousands of books. I have very wide ranging tastes. But a few that make it to the top are as follows.

Movies: Airplane, Pirates of Caribbean, Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, Band of Brothers (technically a 10 hr mini-series), and V for Vendetta.

Music: Deathcab for Cutie, The Goo Goo Dolls, Working for a Nuclear Free City, U2, Fleetwood Mac, plus many many many more.

Books: Ugh, this one really is too hard. I love all my books and rarely meet one I don't enjoy.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A very memorable moment for me happened in Waco, Texas where I'd just got done working at a daycamp in a rough area of town. Me and another girl, who worked with me, were making sure one of the kids got home OK, and one of our supervisors, a male, kind of followed a little way behind to make sure we were safe. A little girl about 8 or 9 years old was going the other way and as she passed, she warned us about the guy that was following us, our supervisor. I was struck first by her awareness of her surroundings, and thought it was a little sad that at the age of 9 she recognized this as dangerous and felt she needed to warn us. And then I thought about her kindness in telling us, two girls she didn't know well at all, about a potential threat to us. She was just looking out for us, and I found that very touching.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm willing to learn anything new and try most things at least once. As for teaching and sharing, I let that come with the moment and if I have relevant information or skills to impart I'll do my best to impart them.
