About Me
It has been almost 10 years (!) since I've used Couchsurfing... What happened in between? Life. Life happened. Busy life with moving to a very grown up home, getting a grown up job, living the grown up life. But still kept on visiting all kinds of places over the world (mostly Europe) and talking to the people about their grown up lives over there. And then I remembered I was on Couchsurfing once. And how much fun that was.
And now I am back, because I want to be a part of the community again. And when I say 'I', I mean 'we', because Joost has been my co-host since the very beginning and still is. We live in Waalre for 7 years now, close to Eindhoven, where we have been receiving surfers the last times. We both studied at the Technical University of Eindhoven and are now working at DAF Trucks and ASML. We go to the office by bike. We go EVERYWHERE by bike. Like the Dutch do of course. But really; we have a car that is eating dust for months now. We have a normal bike and a racing bike, Joost also has a mountainbike. If you're interested in cycling with us, we would love to show you around!
Other things we do are hiking, although in the flat country of The Netherlands it's more 'walking', but we try to make our own adventures ;). Flat does not make it less pretty tho, we have some beautiful forests, parcs and other pieces of nature surrounding us.
And after all that cycling and 'hiking', it's time to open a good bottle of wine and just relax. I can prepare a pretty nice meal, but Joost is the better cook between the two of us.
In my references you read about me in my student years and if you ask my friends, I have not changed at all. I can still go to a bar and go nuts, but I am definitely more in the grown up part of life. We both work full time and weekends are usually a bit full as well, so I'm not sure when we can host Couchsurfers. But you may always send a message and we'll see what we can do.
Lovely to be back :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Love the concept and for hosting it's easy: to have stories from people over the world without having to travel for it.
Interests
Feeling like the only person in the world in the middle of nature. Or dancing my ass of in the big crowd of a festival. Or having a good conversation over a nice glass of wine or great special beer. Love all these things, together with my loved ones. Or with someone I have just met! Hence, Couchsurfing.

Music, Movies, and Books
Joost is an all time rock fan, all from punk rock to metal. I enjoy that as well, but have started to appreciate the dancability (not a word) of house and techno as well. Next to that, all that is old, catch and sing-alongy (also not a word). This week Genesis got stuck in my head.......
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
During my time at university, me and some friends realized how many fellow students were in a band just for fun. But they rarely got a stage to show their skills as musicians. With very limited budget, we organized a student festival for these bands, to play their music for their fellow students. The stage consisted of a bunch of tables (it was sort of safe) and food was crap, but the beer was cheap and the bands ware great, so plan worked out perfectly! After organizing it 4 more times with increasing budget by sponsors, we handed it over the new generation of students and it will be organized again for the 12th time next year.
Teach, Learn, Share
This will all happen while talking. The extent of it will most likely depend on the amount of alcohol being consumed in the meantime.
