About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To squeeze in as many festivals, gigs, excursions and trips as I possibly can around my slightly mental job.

PHILOSOPHY

Oh my. I'm far too long-winded to have a personal philosophy.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'd be happy to meet people for a coffee and give them some good suggestions for things to do (I work for a cultural/lifestyle mag so I know LOTS about what's going on), time and work allowing, and maybe host someone on my couch, flatmates and work allowing!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Bit new to this, but I've only heard positive things from past friends who've CouchSurfed in the past and it's something I've been meaning to get into for ages.

Interests

Music, mainly. I'm pretty much always listening to it, often I write about it, sometimes I play it to people on the radio or in clubs, and I am most likely to be found scouring the listings for my next gig or festival.

But I'm not *that* one-dimensional, oh no no no... I also love my bike and riding it around Edinburgh and anywhere else I can get to.

I work for a magazine (www.list.co.uk) that's all about events and culture in Edinburgh & Glasgow, so I'm never short of ideas for things to do... and I try to act on as many of them as possible: be it going to the theatre, the cinema, booky things, exhibitions, or obscure museums.

Music, Movies, and Books

Yes, all of the above. Too many to name so I'll go with recent highlights:
Movie - Spirited Away (yes I'm a bit slow on that one)
Music - Austra, King Creosote & Jon Hopkins
Books - And the Ass Saw the Angel (Nick Cave); Remainder and C (Tom McCarthy)

Teach, Learn, Share

On a more immediate level - I always know what's going on in Edinburgh & Glasgow. And more generally, I guess I know a lot about the English language and literature, and could probably teach you enough German to get by on holiday.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Liechtenstein, Netherlands, Norway, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
