I love good travel writing - Paul Theroux, Bruce Chatwin, Grahame Greene, VS Naipaul. I really dislike books where the author is the hero of his own story - Shantaram, the Power of One etc.

My taste is music is old fashioned and all over the place. I worship Bob Dylan...and I love old Blues stuff from Leadbelly and the like. Other stuff I like: Penguin Cafe Orchestra, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Neil Young, Brenda Fassie, the Violent Femmes, The Velvet Undergound, Joy Division,...
