Music, Movies, and Books

I love good travel writing - Paul Theroux, Bruce Chatwin, Grahame Greene, VS Naipaul. I really dislike books where the author is the hero of his own story - Shantaram, the Power of One etc.

My taste is music is old fashioned and all over the place. I worship Bob Dylan...and I love old Blues stuff from Leadbelly and the like. Other stuff I like: Penguin Cafe Orchestra, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Neil Young, Brenda Fassie, the Violent Femmes, The Velvet Undergound, Joy Division,...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Ummm....walking through the cloud forest between the Andes and the Amazon in Peru in the early morning mist...learning to stand up and stay standing up on a surfboard in Durban...there are too many to choose from...
