About Me
Hi there!
I’m a Venezuelan who’s been living in the Dominican Republic for almost seven years now. I work as an audiovisual producer and a personal assistant. I’m passionate about my work... and food, and travel... and Harry Potter books. You know, typical millennial stuff. But what I enjoy most is meeting new people, sharing stories, and learning from their experiences.
I don’t have a fancy couch to offer (in fact, I don’t have a couch at all), but if you’re cool with some pillows ( I have a bunch) and a roof over your head, I’d be happy to host. Just a heads-up: please be patient with me. Sometimes I’m a little slow to reply, and my schedule can get a bit crazy because of work. But if our schedules align, I’ll do my best to make it work!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
A friend introduced me to Couchsurfing back in college, and I was hooked. I’ve always loved the vibe of the community, but I didn’t get the chance to host or stay with anyone until recently (finally!). I firmly believe that traveling is the most exciting way to connect to people, and I’m all in for it!
Interests
I love cooking, especially when I get to share it with others. I’m into movies, music, books, and getting outside (sometimes). I’m all about having a good laugh, and lately, I’ve been getting into scuba diving
Music, Movies, and Books
Music:
You know how people say they like all types of music? Well, they're probably lying. I’ve been into the same kind of music since I was 20. Sure, I’m happy when people share new beats, but I usually stick to my old playlist, adding a song here and there if I really love it. So yeah, I can go from a Jorge Drexler track to a Miyavi string solo in a heartbeat.
Movies:
It’s funny because I work in film, but honestly, I mostly watch anime. For me, it’s all about character development (and Japanese animators do that soooo well—trust me, you need good anime in your life!). A few movies that really changed me:
Big Fish - Tim Burton
Parasite - Bong Joon-ho
In the Mood for Love - Wong Kar-wai
Books:
I used to read a lot more as a kid, but now I aim for at least 3 books a year. I’ve recently discovered audiobooks, which is a game-changer! Of course, I’m from the Potterhead generation, so I can’t resist anything with magic and adventure. Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Isabel Allende are among my favorite authors, but hey, magic realism is like Harry Potter... but darker. (Please don't kill me, it’s a joke... or is it?)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I used to have a long list of amazing things I've done here, but recently I realized the most amazing thing ever was as simple as being alive. I know, soooo cliché, but hear me out: sometimes just surviving was the goal. Life is beautiful, but it can be pretty scary too. Through all the highs and lows, the most amazing thing I’ve ever accomplished is being present, being here, living it all as it comes, being amazed, scared, happy, sad... you name it. I really don’t want to take that for granted.
Teach, Learn, Share
I’m the kind of person who knows a bunch of random stuff, so if you’re up for a chat, we’ll never run out of things to talk about. I could talk about movies (and anime) for hours, especially the behind-the-scenes details that most people don’t know (one of the perks of working in the film industry).
I love cooking, so if you’ve got a new recipe to share, I’m all in!
Heads up: I can be really curious about everything, so I might ask a million questions about you, your life, and your travels. Just let me know if it starts to get weird.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can cook and definitely provide some weird, intense, and fun conversations. Plus, I’m always up for making a fool of myself for your entertainment.
