About Me

I'm traveling to Melbourne in November! Currently planning to stay there for a few months then work my way up the east coast, see where it takes me.

I just graduated from Sussex university in Brighton, and studied English Literature. I'm now ready for some adventure!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to see the real Australia! The best part about travelling is really getting to know a place, and the best way to do that is to stay with locals.

I haven't officially couch surfed before, but have often ended up staying with friends I've made travelling or at music festivals. I'd been curious about couch surfing for a while, and then a friend of mine spent the summer hitchhiking around Europe and staying with/meeting people through this site and fully convinced me to give it a go!

Interests

ART! My dream trip around Australia would be staying with other artists and doing collaborative pieces together. I like drawing, painting, photography, digital art, film, textiles etc etc. Honestly it would be amazing to try anything and share skills :) I'm trying to find my 'thing' and, if possible, make money in a creative field some day.

Food is a very big part of my life. I'm veggie, but I really don't mind being around meat eaters at all. I love cooking and eating, trying out new recipes, sharing big meals with groups of friends. I grew up in South Africa where having a brai (barbie!) is taken very seriously.

I'm pretty easy going. I like a mix of active days and chilled ones. Seeing music, watching films, riding my bike, going for walks, reading and talking about things.

Music, Movies, and Books

The music I personally listen to most is very 'indie' but I love going to free parties, Psytrance festivals, electronic/house/techno/dnb/reggae nights, jazz concerts, gigs. I love discovering new stuff.

I love watching films of all descriptions. I wrote my dissertation on Kubrick's 'The Shining'. I do aim to watch all of the imdb top 100 at some point, not because I take it very seriously but because it would be kinda good to have seen all the classics. I also watch a lot of TV: Rick & Morty, The Legend of Korra, Adventure Time, Superjail! and Netflix classics too ofc.

I had to read a lot of heavy stuff for my degree so now I'm just enjoying good stories. Busy reading Game of Thrones for the first time, and love it!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I like to cook, I'm a willing and efficient dish washer, I will fuss your pets, I'm neat, clean and organised. I can sleep literally anywhere so don't require a fancy set-up. I will make you lots of cups of tea.
