About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Travel the world!

ABOUT ME

Note that we received a lot of requests for the summer and that due to work / holidays and CSers already «booked», it is unlikely that we'll be able to host more people during the summer.

Please, remember that Couch surfing is about sharing and meeting people, not just getting free accommodation. Now, if you want to stay with us because you think we would have a good time together, then we'd be happy to host you!
______

My name is Laure, I live with my husband Vincent who is also my travel companion. I studied architecture and art history and now I work as a researcher in built heritage and a tour guide at the now famous Rosslyn Chapel. I have a passion for medieval architecture.
Vincent is doing a post-doc in chemistry.
We are both French (so yes you can write to us in French), but we moved to Montreal in 2009. We now live in Edinburgh since august 2014.

We are both musicians, Vincent is a fingerstyle guitarist (you can listen to his music here: http://vincentgauchot.bandcamp.com/) and I play oboe in an orchestra, bass, I am trying to play the clarinet and I started to play the Scottish harp.

We love sport, especially outdoors activities (hiking, running, kayaking, etc.), we're both runners, Vincent runs a marathon every year, I only run the half and we also love trail running.
We love animals and nature. We have two cats. I really enjoy knitting and sewing
Of course we love to travel, enjoy the world, meet peolpe from all over the planet, see how nature is beautiful, and we both dream to travel in the Arctic (update: dream achieved in winter 2014, when we drove up to the Arctic frozen Ocean!) and Antarctica (still on the to do list)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We host and we travel, that's it! Enjoying CS at its best!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Some of my friends are CSers and I couch surfed for the first time in summer 2008.
We now use CS like every time we travel, and we really enjoy having travelers surfing our couch.
CS is not a cheap way to travel... it's a way of life! and I love that!

Music, Movies, and Books

It will be hard to write down all the music we like since we like a lot of things. We listen to pretty much everything, we love punk rock (A Wilhelm Scream, Rise Against, Offspring, Blink 182...) metal (metallica, In flames...), celtic music, fingerstyle guitar, classical, jazz, blues, traditionnal music, etc.

The same for movies, not a special kind we would really prefer. Since it's a good one, we will like it!
If I had to pick some as my favourite films, I'd say Back to the Futur, The Blues brothers, and Star Wars.
We don't have TV but we're pretty much into Doctor who and Sherlock ;)

We like french and belgian comic books (Tintin, Lucky Luke, Asterix...) and fantasy books. But we can still enjoy to read a lot of different kind of books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Kayaking with whales in Quebec, driving and walking on the frozen Arctic ocean

Teach, Learn, Share

We can share our music, teach you music, I can cook you some french recipes and show you how to knit, I love to learn more about middle ages, and can probably teach you a lot about it too!
