About Me

Hello everyone! I'm Lauren and have lived in Minnesota for the majority of my life.

I'm a very laid-back person and get along with pretty much everyone I meet.
Love making new friends in different places and swapping travel/life stories.

When I'm in a city I love checking out local parks (to hoop-dance at of course), local veg restaurants, areas with street art, anything outdoors really. As well as checking out any live/local music a place is offering.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'll be returning to the States at the end of April after an 8-month stint in Kenya. While living and learning here I also did traveling in Tanzania, Ethiopia and Egypt. I was able to get my first taste of couch-surfing on international soil which sparked my love for it. Upon return I won't have a solidified place to host people, but I will be traveling around the U.S. to see music and would love to meet new friends/explore their city with them!

Interests

I absolutely love seeing and experiencing live music.

I'm passionate about hoop-dancing which I love to do music in the outdoors.

Camping, backpacking, swimming, biking, cooking with friends.. all the good stuff in life.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am a huge fan of the band Phish and have seen a handful of shows.
Really love jam-band type music (Grateful Dead, String Cheese Incident, etc).
And small local bands that put on intimate shows.
Also, love jazzy-funk style music. Really anything that I can dance to.

I'm not much of a movie buff and my favorite books are scattered across a million genres. Love recommendations about either from people.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Definitely moving to Kenya for 8 months (although it's only been five thus far!) and living within Kenyan households and becoming really immersed in the culture.

Couchsurfing in Ethiopia and traveling all throughout Egypt.
Seeing a multitude of historical sites in this region of the world has been amazing, including the Pyramids of Giza.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm open to chat/share about an infinite number of topics.
Love to hear about other people's travel experiences and their passions in life.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm a very chill person and am open to all types of exploring within a city/outdoors.
I can share travel experiences about my time in East/North Africa.

My favorite thing is to go on long, somewhat endless/meandering walks with new folks and talk about any/everything from favorite music, to tidal waves, to ragging on politics, to how beautiful the trees are today.
