About Me

Oh hai,

I am a uni student (on a temporary/possibly an indefinite break from studies) from Adelaide, South Australia.

I love people and I want to celebrate the end of exams by going on an adventure (and by adventure I just mean driving as east and as north from my home as my little car will take me)
Couch surfing is new to me so please forgive me if I seem a little timid. It appeals to me so much because it is really the people that make a place special, and memories are only as good as postcards if there are no people to share them with.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on couch surfing to authentically experience different places around Australia (and eventually, to give people an authentic experience of my hometown). I also want to make friends and to have adventures. I love meeting new people and having new, fun experiences (and by fun I mean anything from tree-climbing to watching movies to drinking all night to playing chess).

Interests

I love languages, I love reading, I love learning about different cultures and I love people. I was studying French and English at uni, but have paused that for awhile to read books I choose for myself, to speak French to real French people and to travel and write as much as I can.

I also enjoy camping, exploring new places, making friends, and going out dancing.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Damien Rice, Sigur Ros, Regina Spektor, Camille, Muse, The Middle East, Vampire Weekend.
Movies: Moon, the Artist, Another Earth, The Intouchables,Studio Ghibli, French Movies, anything art-house or alternative, but then also I adore Marvel films and 10 things I hate about you is in there as well - so its a pretty broad range.
Books: Enduring Love - Ian McEwan, Long way down - Nick Hornby, Oh the Places You'll go - Dr Zeuss, Everything is Illuminated - Jonathan Safran Foer, The Never Ending Story.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The thing that's caused the most amount of amazement within myself (and probably not in anyone else) was when I finished my first short story. I don't ever plan to be published but getting over all of those anxiety hurdles telling me that my work wasn't good enough, and that I should just give up and that sort of thing, was a big deal for me. oh and I drunk pee'd in a bush next to a main road one time - different types of anxiety were surpassed that day but I am equally proud of both moments.

Teach, Learn, Share

French, Poi... oh wow, is that seriously all of my skills? I'll try really hard to learn how to handstand in the next few weeks and then I have at least 3 things. :p

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm pretty good at cooking decent meals with basic ingredients (student life taught me this one) , and I love to bake. I can play a bit of guitar and have some poi skills (that thing where people spin fire, but without the fire) that I am happy to teach others.

So basically, you'll get cookies and every now and again I'll spin things.

I am also more than happy to be as helpful as I can to my host as appreciation for hosting. I can cook, clean or do washing, or babysit or anything you can think of really - please ask me, because I am super keen to give back and it will make me oh so happy to do so.

I can speak French, and am more than happy to practice with people and teach/tutor the basics.
Also I will very rarely say no to a suggestion (except if its illegal or sexual) so if you want someone to go dancing with, or want a companion for a hike or want to walk for hours to find that one cool shop you heard about all the way across town - I will almost always be up for it. :)
