About Me
Just your everyday South African who loves discussing current affairs over a nice glass of wine! Prior to moving to DC for graduate school, I worked in South African youth leadership development and public policy research - a lowkey philosophy nerd who enjoys the occasional night out :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
While I am somewhat new to the CS community 'infrastructure', I have informally couchsurfed and hosted guests from abroad whenever possible. I enjoy traveling 'like a local', and what better way to do so than to stay with locals. My best memories of the places I have visited have involved the hidden gems that tourists know nothing about, but which everyone in the neighbourhood flocks to. I have also managed to make lifelong friends from all over the world through these experiences and would love to continue sharing more of my country/culture/language in return.
Hopefully when I'm done with this #gradschoollife and have somewhat stable roots, I'll be able to host more!

This changes often, but -
Currently listening to: Spotify's 'African Heat' playlist
Currently reading: We Were Eight Years in Power by Ta-Nehisi Coates

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Went for a nighttime float in the Dead Sea. The stars were incredible!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'd like to think that I'm a good conversationalist and love to exchange ideas and experiences with anyone who is interested. I'm very adaptable so whether my host would prefer someone who keeps to themselves or who chats over dinner every night, I'm keen.
If I plan far enough in advance, I usually have some South African goodies on hand and have been known to procrasti-bake (which I'm happy to share!)
