Hello everyone! A little about me: I left home in January of 2019 with a work exchange arranged at a surf camp in Costa Rica. I had a ticket to return to the United States 5 weeks later. It only took me a few weeks to cancel that ticket, and I have now been (slowly) traveling Latin America for the last year and a half :)

I have felt more comfortable and at home in Latin America than I ever felt in the United States. I love to visit as many places as I can, but I believe my personal higher purpose along my travels is to continue to meet and connect with as many people as I can as well.

I started my travels as a photographer and graphic designer, and in the past year and a half, I have added a few things to my repertoire, becoming a certified yoga instructor, as well as an English teacher. I have developed a love for the ocean, earning my open water scuba diving certification and my IKO kite surfing certification. At this point, I think it is a personal challenge for myself to earn as many certifications in random things as possible!

I consider myself a relaxed and laid back person, but I enjoy being active. As much of my work is online, it is nice to pull myself away from the digital world for a bit!

Hola a todos! Un poco sobre mí: salí de casa en los Estados Unidos en enero de 2019 con un intercambio de trabajo organizado en un campamento de surf en Costa Rica. Tenía un boleto para regresar a los Estados Unidos 5 semanas después. Solo me tomó unas semanas cancelar ese boleto, y ahora he estado (lentamente) viajando por América Latina durante el último año y medio :)

Me he sentido más comoda y en casa en América Latina que en los Estados Unidos. Me encanta visitar tantos lugares como puedo, pero creo que mi propósito personal más elevado a lo largo de mis viajes es continuar conociendo y conectando con tantas personas como pueda.

Comencé mis viajes como fotógrafo y diseñador gráfico, y en el último año y medio, he agregado algunas cosas a mi repertorio, convirtiéndome en una maestra de yoga, así como una profesora de inglés. He desarrollada un amor por el mar, obteniendo mi certificación de buceo en aguas abiertas y mi certificación de kite surf IKO. En este punto, creo que es un desafío personal para mí obtener tantas certificaciones en cosas aleatorias como sea posible!

Me considero una persona relajada, pero disfruto ser activo. Como gran parte de mi trabajo está en línea, es bueno alejarme un poco del mundo digital!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I believe that there is no better way to learn and experience than through human connection. After spending a lot of time in hostels, I find it much more refreshing and fulfilling to have the opportunity to share a space with someone who lives in the places that I am passing through. I love to connect with people, listen to the stories of others, and share some of my own.

Creo que no hay mejor manera de aprender y experimentar que a través de la conexión humana. Después de pasar mucho tiempo en hostales, me resulta mucho más refrescante y gratificante tener la oportunidad de compartir un espacio con alguien que vive en los lugares por los que estoy pasando. Me encanta conectarme con la gente, escuchar las historias de otros y compartir algunas de las mías.

Music, Movies, and Books

While I specifically listen to mostly alternative and rock music, I also listen to a bit of salsa and Latin as well. I am not a huge book reader, but I am currently (slowly) making my way through "The Four Agreements" in Spanish. Traveling, Netflix tends to be my main source of movies and shows. I have really enjoyed La Casa de Papel, Elite, Stranger Things, Elisa and Marcela, Black Mirror, Moonlight, Roma, and Maniac (to name more than a few). One of my favorite movies of all time is Good Will Hunting.

Si bien escucho específicamente música alternativa y rock, también escucho un poco de salsa y latín. No soy un gran lector de libros, pero actualmente estoy (lentamente) abriéndome camino a través de "Los cuatro acuerdos" en español. Viajando, Netflix tiende a ser mi principal fuente de películas y espectáculos. One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Solo traveling for the past (almost) two years has left me with many memorable experiences, but once of my favorites would be participating in the "Day of the Dead" celebrations in Mexico City.

Teach, Learn, Share

I genuinely have an interest in learning whatever it is that a host would like to share with me! I always have an interest in learning how to cook traditional foods, salsa dancing, practicing my Spanish... The list goes on and on! Basically, if you would like to share it with me, I would love to participate!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Unfortunately, my cooking skills are nothing fantastic, but where I lack in cooking ability I can make up for in yoga classes, photography tips, English teaching, and storytelling as desired. If you have time to show me around where you live, I can also offer some nice photographs of you in your city.
