Overview
About Me
Hey! I grew up in northern Virginia, and have lived in Richmond, VA for the last 7 years. I've worked in the restaurant industry for the last eight years, moonlighting as a college student here and there. I love traveling (who doesn't), talking about food, making food, looking at food, hiking all day and drinking good beer (or average beer, it's all good) in the evening. I'm not great at math but I do know a lot of useless pop culture facts, and am always looking for or willing to give podcast recommendations.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Travelling, especially solo, is always the richest when you get to connect with new people you never would have met before. You're struck by how different and similar you are with a person, and it's an awesome juxtaposition! I think the people on Couchsurfing, travellers/hosts/guides are genuinely excited about newness, whether it be people, experiences, places, etc. They actively try to make the most out of a situation. There's nothing wrong with a Motel 6, but staying at a home, full of personality and warmth, makes a huge impression on a person, and wherever they are, they'll remember that place with an intimacy and fondness you can't get at an anonymous motel.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Doing anything for the first time is an amazing experience I think! Kayaking on Lake Superior, riding the metro in Santiago, driving a tractor, conversing successfully in a foreign language, hanging out with Australians, making really good fried eggplant, I would consider all of these amazing! Recently I had the opportunity to act in a musical that was written specifically for the town of Milan, Minnesota, based on its unique history and culture. Being a non-local, it was a totally new way to meet people and fall in love with somewhere I probably never would have travelled to before.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm pretty decent at conversational Spanish, but am better after una taza de vino. I love swapping stories about adventures mundane and grand.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Many absurd stories, I love talking to people and listening, commiserating, oversharing, geeking out over shared obsessions. I also love to cook and would be happy to make an unsophisticated dinner for hosts!
