Hey everyone!!! A little bit about myself is that I am a sophomore in college at Virginia Commonwealth University where I am currently studying Biology on a Pre-Medical track. I am a member of a sorority at VCU called Phi Mu and I just recently got accepted into a program called Global Brigades where I will be providing medical care for members of a community in Honduras over winter break next year. I love more than anything being able to travel, meet new people, and learn new things along the way. Some things that I really want to do before I graduate is to become fluent in Spanish, spend a semester abroad, and be an au pair for a couple of months in a new place. I really do believe that life starts when you step out of your comfort zone and I try to live by that every day.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

This summer, my best friend and I will be traveling through Europe for an entire month together and we really want to be immersed in the culture and get to know new people. I have a friend who lives in France and she suggested this website! I have hear nothing but GREAT experiences from others that I know who have used this, and I can't think of any better way to spend my time in Europe. I'm hoping this will help us learn more about different cultures and that we will walk away from this experience with so many new friends and stories to tell about the amazing people we met and the things that we did.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One time, I was on a night shift from 6 pm to 6 am as an EMT, and we got a call around 5:30 in the morning about an accident on the highway. All of us put our gear on and got into the ambulance. The whole time, I was really nervous because this was my first call ever and I didn't want to mess it up. When we got to the scene, the firemen were already ripping the doors off of the car, and you could see that the car had rolled several times and then smashed into a wall off to the side of the road. Everything was really hectic and one of the firemen handed me the backboard and a neck brace and told me to go strap the man who was unconscious into it. When the man woke up, he didn't know where he was or what even happened. He was severely injured with a broken nose, concussion, bruised ribs, and possible spinal injury, but we were able to care for him and get him to the hospital quickly enough for them to save him. It was really rewarding to know that I got to be a part of the the reason this man was able to live another day.

If anyone wants to practice their English, I would love to help!!! I am also always so intrigued by other languages and would love to practice or learn some of another language as well!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Unfortunately I am not the best cook (but I'm open to learning!!!), but I can always buy wine or other necessary ingredients for dinner! I also am very much so a talker and I have so many stories and interesting things we could chat about. I'm really fun and would like to think of myself as pretty funny too.
