About Me
Hello!
My name is Lauren and I am from Seattle in beautiful Washington state. Currently, I am traveling around Europe while taking a break from graduate school. I am pursing a Masters in Environmental Studies/Science - with a focus on food security.
I love to explore! I have been traveling around Europe for a few months now. I love the city and I love the country (especially mountains!). I enjoy a yummy craft beer, cider or wine. Whenever I head to a new location I try to see a few sights, but also relax and visit local cafes and bars.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Some of the most meaningful moments I've had are with the people I've met while traveling. Couchsurfing provides that connection with the local community that travelers might not have if they were staying in hotels. Like most students, I am traveling on a budget and want to make the most out of my expeditions.
Interests
I love good food and drinks (cooking and going out), hiking, biking, music, yoga, researching, planning, conversation, etc.

Music, Movies, and Books
Right now I have been listening to mellow electropop - especially Mø, Odezsa, Washed Out, Tycho, Chvrches, Broods. I listen to a variety of music though.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Recently, I went to the largest known ice cave in the world just outside of Salzburg, Austria. It was incredible. I hiked up with a few friends to a cable car that took us from about 1000m to 1500m in a few minutes. Then we went on a tour with about 20 people into "Eisriesenwelt", led only by open-flame lanterns. The tour only goes into 1km of the 42km cave, but it was one of the most surreal experiences I've had.
Looking back, the most amazing experiences I've had involve nature. If you need a hiking buddy - pick me!
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach - I play piano, flute, mallet percussion, sing.
Learn - I would love to learn basic phrases of whatever country I'm in. I'm a little embarrassed that I only know one language.
Share - Stories of course!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I would be happy to share with hosts good conversations - about food, politics, music, environmental issues, anything! I am also an excellent planner and can provide tips to anyone who has questions about traveling.
