About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To explore as much of this incredible world as possible, and to meet as many "fellow travelers" in life as I can. I've never done couch surfing before, but I'm really excited to try it!
ABOUT ME
Hello there! My name is Lauren, and I am a full-time graduate student. I am currently pursuing a Masters degree in Mental Health Counseling, and will be done really soon! It is my goal to work with children and adolescents and help them overcome mental health difficulties. I love to travel, immerse myself in other cultures, and to experience life through other peoples' eyes. I truly believe we are "fellow travelers" in life, and I know that there is something to be learned from everyone who crosses your path. Sometimes it's hard to get away from the demands and responsibilities of life as a graduate student, but the times I have chosen to get on a plane and focus on the present moment, I've done some of the things I'm most proud of! I'm really friendly, naturally curious, and keen for adventure. I'm also vegetarian, which is difficult sometimes when I'm traveling but I make it work!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am on couchsurfing because I believe it is a great way to meet like-minded individuals. I feel that couchsurfers are eager to share, learn, and grow from those who they stay with or who stay with them. I hope the rest of my 20's are spent working hard, and traveling harder! I can't wait to meet all the amazing people out there!
Interests
I really love a lot of things! First and foremost, I love to help people (I've even made a career out of it)! Aside from traveling, I love reading, music, dancing, being in nature, playing board games, and spending time with my friends and family. I'm a pretty crafty and creative person. I like to sew, do needlepoint, paint, knit and do DIY projects. I love animals and cannot wait until I have time and a proper home to adopt a furry friend. I also do a lot of volunteer work in my community - one day I hope to utilize my skills as a therapist on a global level, bringing mental health care to those who've experienced trauma and violence. Oh, and I have an affinity for drinking coffee and tea...I'm a little bit obsessed.

Music, Movies, and Books
When I'm not reading a textbook for university, I enjoy reading fantasy fiction such as anything by Neil Gaiman, the Game of Thrones series, Harry Potter, etc. (I'm nerdy). My favorite movie ever is The Princess Bride. I mostly listen to folky, indie-acoustic music, but am open to many types. I especially love to listen to live music.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I spent a semester abroad in Scotland completing an internship in the mental health field. I had never been to the UK before, and I went alone. I traveled all over the UK by myself, which was really empowering! Now I'm hooked on that feeling of having the joy of LIFE bubble up inside each time I visit a new place :)
