Overview
About Me
I'm an upper year student at the University of Calgary, where I am studying music composition. To keep the stereotype alive, I'm dirt broke and I work as a barista at a local independent coffee shop.
I am always looking for an opportunity to run off to the Rocky Mountains (about an hour west of Calgary) or even further afield.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I firmly believe that the best way to experience a place is through the eyes of the locals. And what better way to do that than through couch surfing?
Interests
As mentioned above, I am an avid musician, and can play several instruments. French horn, trumpet, mandolin and a little bit of guitar.
我也學了中文兩個年了。不過我太好了!
I'm an active person who prefers the outdoors. In the summer you'll find me hiking, camping and rock climbing, and in the winter I love nothing more than to ski and snowshoe in the Rocky Mountains.

Music, Movies, and Books
I could go on and on about music. I listen to a little of everything, and my favorite genre/musician/piece changes constantly. Right now I've been on a big lo-fi garage rock kick, as well as an enthusiastic electroacoustic binge. The musicians Im listening to now include Parqet Courts, Thee Oh Sees, King Tuff, Ex Hex, Purity Ring, Taku, Emancipator, Shigetu, and so so much more.
On the flipside, I love love love Erik Satie, Stockhausen, modern experimental/spectralists like Oneohthetrix Point Never, Nils Frahm, Aphex Twin, you get the idea.
Basically, if you're a music nerd, then I am your friend.
I'm one of those weirdos that really loves bad movies. Like, the worst. The Room, Troll 2, Future War, Santa Claus Conquers the Martians. Stuff like that.
Books: Kurt Vonnegut, Arthur C. Clarke, old school sci-fi.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
At 18, I moved almost 6000 km from home, completely alone and with almost no money, and made it work.
Teach, Learn, Share
What I can teach you:
-knitting, crochet and cross stitch are all things I'm awesome at.
-wanna learn music? I can music. I can music very well indeed.
-I've hosted a million and one tea tastings and I have cupped a countless number of coffees. Want to improve your palate? Wanna learn how to be a coffee snob? How to pour latte art? Make a frothy bowl of matcha? Let me show you how.
What I'd like to learn:
-I'm currently learning Mandarin. If you're fluent, I would love to converse with you.
-I am always learning new things in the realm of music. If you have something to teach, then I would love to learn.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'm a pretty darn good cook, having worked in kitchens on and off for a few years, and I make one of the best cups of tea or coffee to come out of Calgary. That, and, y'know, I'm neat, tidy, quiet, don't smoke (but 420 friendly by all means) and don't drink. The usual stuff.
