About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To prove compassion does exist! (I think I may need a new mission.)

ABOUT ME

I like to take life day by day and enjoy the small quirks that we sometimes take for granted. I'm adventurous and like to have a good time with good people. Being open-minded and having a sense of humor are good for the soul! I’d consider myself to be an extroverted and social person but also genuinely enjoy my alone quiet time.

"The sweetest thing in all my life has been the longing to reach the Mountain, to find the place where all the beauty came from, my country, the place where I ought to have been born. Do you think it all meant nothing, all the longing? The longing for home? For indeed it now feels not like going, but like going back."
- C.S. Lewis

PHILOSOPHY

We are all trying to answer the same questions that we may never find the answers to. So why not make the most of the struggle/magic and have some good times together? The present is all we have and it is important to remain mindful and compassionate in all experiences. We may all have subjective perspectives but I do believe that the search for love, to be seen, to be heard is what ties us all together in the end.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I just moved back to my hometown of Lafayette, LA AFTER BEING GONE FOR 13 years. I lived in New Orleans for 9 years and then Colorado for 3 years. I just finished a 4 month solo road trip (Aug-Nov) around the US and came home to rest, work, spend time with family while I wait on a pending visa application to Australia. Looking to share my Cajun roots with travelers passing through.

HOW I PARTICIPATED IN COUCHSURFING

I was an active host in New Orleans for several years. I loved to share my passion for the city with surfers and see it again and again through their fresh perspectives.

I took a very long break from CSing after I began living with roommates and then eventually a partner.

After a 5 year hiatus I began to host again in my Denver apartment and started the addiction all over again - it’s sort of amazing the life connections that just keep coming through this network.

There is NO BETTER WAY to travel!!!
I wanna say I’ve surfed in 10 different countries over an 8 year span? I have met some of the most interesting and whole-hearted people throughout the world.

Interests

I draw, play ukulele, meditate, do yoga, lift weights, go camping, hike, drink wine, cook spicy foods, journal, plan trips, learn new things, take classes, listen to podcasts/audio books. I’m obsessed with most things related to holistic health care, especially massage therapy or any type of body work. Oh, and I also Love Love music of most genres: typically good ol' rock n roll but also folk, bluegrass, experimental, indie, psychedelic, retro, blues, funk, spiritual, etc. And obviously I'm extremely interested in traveling and meeting new people.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My Mom packed up me and my siblings when I was 10 and ran away to Mexico for 6 months. Talk about a surprise extended vacation! Still don't really know why we went, haha, but it sure was an amazing experience.

I backpacked through Western Europe for 6 of the most amazing weeks.
-the first three weeks with my best friend and the last three weeks alone. I met and did the most magical things. It all felt like a dream.

Backpacked through Europe a second time Summer of 2018 with my partner at the time. Got to see the Swiss Alps, drink fantastic wine in Tuscany, and explore secret beaches outside of Lisbon just to name a few highlights.

Went to Belize and ate fresh conch ceviche immediately after diving for it off the boat.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can make a fucking good gumbo (although I gave up meat last year so it's gotta be seafood). I would love to share my cajun cooking knowledge as well as the history of my culture! I'm also pretty crafty and love to create new things with whatever is around.

I practice massage therapy as my career and am extremely interested in learning everything there is to know about holistic health. Could be willing to set up a trade or if you’re interested in paying me for a massage I’m always taking on new clients!

I'm interested in Deep conversation, art, culture, travel, holistic health, spirituality, music, gardening, wines, history, cooking and every little other thing anyone has to offer.
