About Me

ABOUT ME

My name is Laurence Foshee. I'm a pretty open person, and try to be as courteous as I can (though I fail at times) . The way I figure it, it's really hard to make surfing work well unless you get good references from hosts, so if you could help me get over that hump, that would be greatly appreciated.

PHILOSOPHY

The Nerd answer: Pragmatic Phenomenologist, and not very okay with the Linguistic Turn.

A Better Answer: I have a passion for knowledge and experience, and I guess that's my main driving force in everything I do.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've been a guest a couple of times and I've hosted a couple of times.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

On a trip in which I walked and biked from Tulsa, Oklahoma to Toronto, Ontario, I couchsurfed in Detroit and Toronto. Both hosts were very gracious and show me all the great things their home cities had to offer.

Music, Movies, and Books

That'd take too long.

Movies: Ones that make you think
Music: 250GB from all over the place (not much country, but I've gradually warmed to it spending so much time in small towns)
Books: Big on modernist era, but not so much on their depression. David Foster Wallace had a huge influence on me in high school.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Walking/Biking to Across the U.S. and Canada. Went to scandinavia last summer, met a random family and stayed with them. Went repelling (almost) at Sam's Throne, Arkansas, U.S., something I wanted to do all my life.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am very good at solving the following problem: "I'm stuck in (the middle of nowhere or a huge city) with no money or anyone to call. How do I find a place to sleep for the night that's legal?"

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Denmark, Sweden

Countries I’ve Lived In

United States
