About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To add more people to my constantly growing arsenal of social factors that contribute to my evolving self.

ABOUT ME

O hai. I'm Lauren.

Full-time social worker/life coach in Chicago, part-time beekeeper, writer, amateur baker. I'm a member of bike gang full of girls under 5'2" and you're most likely to find me on the saddle of a bicycle (unless it's the summer, and I'm in some body of water).

Into: open-mindedness, good beer, 'zines, fiber arts, touring by bike, people of the Midwest, David Lynch, game meat, feminism, social justice, soul music (and dance nights at clubs all over that play it exclusively).

Bummed about: backwards political and social ideology that doesn't cater to empathy (above all things), wearing pants, a lack of vacation culture in the US.

PHILOSOPHY

Well it's loosely strung around the idea of karma.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: The Shining, Amelie

Music: Nina Simone, Woody Guthrie, 2pac

Books: Alice Munro, Dave Eggers, Mark Twain

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Barack Obama. Election night. 2008. Grant Park. Chicago.

Sneaked in whiskey and jager, kissed some strangers, lost my voice, celebrated with a group of people full of love.

I want more moments like that.

Rooftop. Downtown Chicago. Fireworks exploding off the lake. Drinks in hand, sweet environmentalists as company. Hugs, dirty jokes, and musical reminiscing.

Attended a bike porn film festival and followed it with a bike ride in my underwear to a party at a mystery location with the crew (and some cast members).

What I Can Share with Hosts

Baked goods, herbal medicine (that's actually not a euphemism).
