About Me

On a continuous journey to find and create meaning in life - with meeting awesome people through Couchsurfing being one way to do that!

I live in a beautiful part of the world and would love to share it with you. Whilst I love to travel and want to do more of it now the world has opened back up again, I also enjoy appreciating where I live and travelling within the UK - so many lovely places to go right on my doorstep!

I'm totally a cat person but love dogs too. Other things I enjoy in life are music, good, sports, yoga, reading and of course travelling! I live with my husband Jason and our lovely cat Stella. If you are requesting to stay with me, please mention them to show you have read my profile and understand that, if you stay with me, you're getting all three of us!

Max stay 3 nights

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love meeting people from different walks of life and Couchsurfing is a great platform to do this. As I travel to different places I'm keen to meet locals and get a good authentic experience of the place. I spent a few months Couchsurfing in the USA in 2017 and it was the most amazing experience. I couldn't believe the level of kindness and generosity I experienced: I arrived in the USA knowing nobody there and now I have friends all over the country; I even have a set of 'American parents'! I'm excited to pay some of this kindness and hospitality forward as a host.

Interests

Food is a big interest of mine - always thinking about what I'm going to eat next! - I enjoy preparing tasty, healthy food, as well as eating out and discovering new cuisine. I eat consciously and often choose plant-based options, but don't tend to put labels or absolutes on my diet.

I'm a keen climber, runner and cyclist. My husband and I also love hill walking and I'm rarely happier than when out on the hill feeling at one with the rest of nature. Always up for trying out new activities and outdoor pursuits.

Mindfulness and yoga practice are important ot me, as they keep me feeling grounded and well both physically and mentally.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have quite eclectic taste in music and am always open to discovering new artists and genres. I'm particularly partial to country and classical!

Films:
Serious: Les Miserables, The Danish Girl, Donnie Darko, Erin Brockovich
Childhood favourites: The Lion King, Toy Story Trilogy
Silly humour: Bridesmaids, The Heat, Bruce Almighty, Mamma Mia!

I like a good novel and Sebastian Faulkes is my favourite novelist. Human Traces is a Masterpiece! In the non-fiction world I read a lot of wellbeing and mental heath. Some top picks are Happy by Derren Brown and The Myth of Mental Illness by Thomas Szasz. At the time of updating my profile I'm reading Notes on a Nervous Planet by Matt Haig, which is an insightful and uplifting read. I'd like to be more well-read in general, but thre are only so many hours in the day and too many other great things in life to spend our time on!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The two best experiences of my life have be G Adventires tours: 'Nairobi to Zanzibar Adventire' included a few days of Safari in the Serengeti - beautiful and fascinating in equal measure - whilst 'Camping America's West' had me seeing a huge number of amazing National Parks of the States in just 3 weeks, meeting some amazing new friends along the way. Utterly priceless experiences and highly recommended.

Teach, Learn, Share

If you're interested in health, happiness and wellbeing, this will open doors to a whole world of conversations and experiences to be shared. Lets do some yoga together, share music, enjoy a good meal or talk for hours about whatever takes our fancy...

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'll be a respectful guest and flexible to your routine. I could teach you some yoga postures or guide you through some mindfulness meditation. I'll cook you dinner or buy you one out. Hopefully we can enjoy some fun times together!
