ABOUT ME

I am a simple, yet mindful person, always in search of new challenges and adventure.

I grew up in Shaker Heights, Ohio with my three wild little sisters. During high school, my family hosted three yearlong AFS students from Turkey, France, and Japan. I studied at Miami University and majored in Environmental Science and Botany. I spent 4 summers as an intern for the Cleveland Museum of Natural History doing research and mapping for their Natural Areas Department. After graduation, I came back to Cleveland and spent 3 amazing years chatting about life w/ my Grandma over tea and vodka martinis. In my free time, I work with www.surgicalfire.org counseling burn survivors and encouraging health care facilities to improve patient safety protocols. I also coached soccer for Shaker Youth Soccer Association. I recently moved to New Bern, North Carolina! Currently, I am working as the Neuse Riverkeeper at the Neuse Riverkeeper Foundation.

UPDATE: We are currently sailing across the Pacific Ocean, Panama to Australia, and will be unable to host for the next 4 months. I look forward to meeting fun surfers from the South Pacific during our trip! Here is a link to Brian's profile: https://www.couchsurfing.org/people/kananumpua/
