Same old story of writing about yourself, what to say!

I'm Laurens Hof, a 27 year old Musician (guitarist) living in Groningen. Graduated two years ago at Artez hogeschool voor de Kunsten, where I studied guitar for 4 years. Before that I studied Psychology at the University of Groningen for 3 years, but dropped out because of the much bigger interest for music. Currently I'm trying to make a (self-employed) living by playing music a lot, writing songs and teaching guitar to people of all ages. It's working out pretty well, and most of the time I absolutely love that I'm able to fill in my life the way I'm currently doing.

As a person I'd like to believe I'm easy going, fun loving and especially interested in what other people do or think. When I set my mind to things I'm a goalgetter, but I've realized over the past couple of years that I have to be careful sometimes and occasionally stop and enjoy the awesome journey of being a musician.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm going away on my own for a couple of weeks for the first time. Heard some really good stories about Couchsurfing and I would like to pitch in on the adventure!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Changes by the week! Currently I'm really into Bon Iver, Thomas Dybdahl, Anderson Paak and Damien Rice. Played in bands varying from rock/pop to country and soul.

Movies: I guess I'm pretty standard with this, Shawshank redemption, Fight club, all Tarantino movies, Good Will Hunting.

Books: Not really a reader (someday I will be again)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Playing the national radio with an ex-band called View for a Day. We actually did it a couple of times. The whole process of writing, promoting, playing and creating comes to a climax when you reach thousands of people through one medium. Getting rewarded for the music that you created from scratch is the best appreciation I can think of
