About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it

ABOUT ME

I live in Manly, Australia with my partner, Andy. In Jan 2009 we sailed a 38 ft catamaran across the Atlantic ocean, and toured the caribbean. I then headed off to Galapagos, Peru, Bolivia and Argentina, where I learned about and joined couch surfing before returning home in June 2009.
Last year I celebrated my 28th birthday by travelling to the South Pacific island of Niue where Andy and I swam with humpback whales - an experience of a lifetime!
I grew up in Canada and moved to Australia in 2004. Andy grew up in the UK and moved to Aus in 2000; and our 2 flatmates are also both from overseas originally (South Africa and Zimbabwe) but are now permanent fixtures in Oz :)

PHILOSOPHY

A wise and wonderful friend once told me ´Life is fraught with possibilities!´and how true it is.
I believe honesty and integrity are the most important qualities in friends - and in good people in general.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I signed up to Couch Surfing while in South America in 2009 after hearing great things from other travellers. I host people at my place in Sydney because I love to share enthusiasm with travellers and make them love my home (Sydney) as much as I do!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couch surfing is about meeting new people, sharing stories and experiences and creating new friends and lasting memories. If you're just interested in free accommodation, you've totally missed the spirit of this organization.

Interests

I love being active and being outdoors. I love adventure, people, and animals. I don´t consider myself much of a city person. I love to scuba dive and completed my dive master certification.
I am an avid horse rider and love to train horses for competition.
I also enjoy swimming, hiking, surfing, downhill skiing (Whistler!), snorkelling, photography, eating and drinking, and sitting back with a good book. I enjoyed doing a solo paraglide a couple years ago and in 2010 did my first fully solo skydive :)

I love a good, inspiring autobiography by anyone who dares to challenge themself. Ie, No Ceiling (what a great woman!); and 3 Cups of Tea (what an amazing man!).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Scuba diving with great whites in South Australia; diving with sea turtles, manta rays, sea lions and hammerhead sharks in Galapagos! Swimming up close and personal with mother humpback whale and her week old calf!
First ever fully solo skydive, june 2010 :)
