Hello, I'm Lauren! I'm a recent transplant to Dallas, originally from small town Indiana. I don't know a lot of people in the area but I firmly live by the motto, "I'll tr anything twice" because let's be real, no one liked their first glass of wine. I love to learn about new things. I'm insanely passionate about my life and my hobbies and I appreciate others who are as well. If you love some outrageously obscure thing, I want you to tell me all about it and I can in turn tell you how I believe society's stability is balanaced entirely upon the queue line. I'm kind of quirky and off-beat, but I've never met a stranger I couldn't talk to or a like-minded soul I couldn't turn into a friend.

I've been on here for a few years, ever since I did the Couch Crash in Madison, WI in 2013. Haven't hosted or surfed since, but I have a feeling that will change in the future. I'd like to do a lot more traveling and visiting new people/places. I am an absolute sponge and want to soak up all the knowledge I can. It's insanely helpful at trivia nights at the bars!

I love all things entertainment. Movies, theatre, dance, video games, sports, books, et cetera. I thoroughly enjoy scary and horror genres, hockey, and foreign cultures. I'm also a history nut, so I like museums, historical sites, and those weird old houses that always have haunted tours. I like to play tennis, but would play any sport if someone started a pick-up game. I have a single cat who is basically my fur-child and I do spend most of my free time annoying her, since she annoys me in her free time.

Music: Acoustic, pop/punk, rock. Marianas Trench, Yellowcard, Panic at the Disco, Fall Out Boy, Young the Giant, Monsters and Men, Jason Mraz, Ed Sheeran, Muse, Quietdrive.
Movies/TV: Horror, thriller, foreign. All things by the Coen Brothers (especially Fargo and O Brother, Where Art Thou), most things by Quentin Tarantino (Reservoir Dogs and Inglorious Basterds being my top), and most things by the Wachowski siblings (Sense8 is magical). I don't tend to watch much television, but when I do it's mostly Netflix originals (Peaky Blinders, Sense8, Stranger Things), or dramas. I'm not your average TV consumer so I can't stand to watch most network shows (especially procedural cop dramas. They are THE WORST). When I want background noise while doing laundry or cleaning, HGTV is pretty fun (Property Brothers, Fixer Upper, Brother v. Brother, House Hunters).
Books: Primarily fiction, historical fiction, post-apocalyptic, dystopian. Switching Time by Dr. Richard Baer, The Hunger Games (Book 1 only) by Suzanne Collins, Jurassic Park and The Lost World by Michael Crichton, Angels & Demons by Dan Brown, A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket, the Russian Concubine by Kate Furnivall, The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah, the Shining Girls by Lauren Beukes. I'd like to get into reading some true-crime novels and more non-fiction. If you have suggestions please let me know! I've got quite the list going...

Snorkeling off Little St. John in the Caribbean and meeting an entire family of seahorses. Getting an "Aruban Tattoo" on Aruba, which was unintentional and exceptionally painful (this is a funny in a "I'm so sorry this happened to you, but man this is shit ONLY happens to you!" kind of way story).
