ABOUT ME

I'm an exchange student from Melbourne, Australia, spending a semester abroad to study in Leiden, Netherlands. I'm a former fine arts student, now studying art history and philosophy, and loving it :)

With my interests in the arts I have a particular love of museums and the arts, and I love exploring these things when I travel. However I also love the natural environment, hiking, and swimming in the ocean! I enjoy being in cities as well, learning about the hustle and bustle of a different place, and I like to get out and experience the night life/live music a city has to offer.

After a very busy couple of years I am currently enjoying a slower pace with time to travel, explore and open my mind to new things! I value open-mindedness and the willingness to be thrown into the unfamiliar.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am hoping to couchsurf my way around Europe in between studying! And hopefully get inspired to receive more couchsurfers in return once I return home :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Yet to have real CS experience but I have stayed on lots of peoples couches/floors/backyards, whathaveyou.. I also love meeting travellers to show them around my home city when I am there! I'm really pumped to meet people and have some amazing couchsurfing experiences!

Interests

Reading, live music (both classical and contemporary), museums, old things, swimming in the ocean, travelling, gender equality, cycling, the soul warming goodness of a cup of tea, the arts, gardening, late night conversations, dancing, cooking, seeing, breathing, living!

Music, Movies, and Books

Films I have watched or re-watched recently: Boyhood, Adoration, Her, The Young and Prodigious T.S. Spivet, Midnight in Paris, Dead Poet's Society... I find it hard to briefly describe my interests in film, music and books, but there's some examples. I love reading memoirs, I've noticed. I have a wide appreciation for music. I enjoy orchestral music but I also love a good rave, and the in-betweens vary from some kinds of (good) pop to folk to jazz to lush psychedelic rock music!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Walked around Uluru in 40 degree heat. What a privilege it was to experience the sacred history and witness the spiritually important sites of this place, and the immense heat just made it all the more intense and unbelievable.
